2003 300m hood opening

I can't get the hood to open on my wifes 03 300m. The cable has no tension on it and you cannot get to the latch from the front grille. Anyone have any ideas on how to open this it sounds like the alternator is eating itself so I really need to get it open soon.

Have you tried having someone hold the hood release while you push down on the hood a little. My wife has a LHS and it gives me fits and the only way is to have soem hold tension on the hood release as it seems it has little tension. I hope it helps.

yes I have tried that unfortunately to no avail. it doesn't seem to have any tension on it. I think the cable broke or came off maybe under the hood. it is still attached in the passenger compartment.
