Went trolling Detroit Craigslist for some reason...

Saw this...   http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/cto/1314081686.html

4 really small lousy pics of a cinnamon brown 69 RT with aluminum slots....   with 70 buckets,  tuff wheel,  guages under the dash and a murky area in the right rear quarter that could be a dent.

The dates in the ad are "close" but not quite...  frankly I forgot if I sold it in 80 but most likely 81.

The location of the car now is only a few miles from where I used to live if it is it.    I sold it to a dude in Sterling Heights.

I sent a email asking for some details... like if it had a mural on the decklid like mine had.   And other stuff like trunk mount battery, etc.

The price seems too high...  thing needed quarters 30 years ago if it is my old one.   I sold it with a set of 70 factory quarters.   I never had the cheese to get it fixed when I was back in MI and going to school.    By now the engine is probably seized anyway.   I had a 440 with 915 heads.   Racer brown cam.

Just posting cause I'm sorta anxious to hear back and so far no response.

Edit:  Link to ad that was removed...   replaced with screen capture below.

No clue.   :shruggy:  Sorry.   I didn't keep track of stuff like that back then.    Only way to figure it out is to try going back thru MI Sec. of State records.

Still waiting response.

Do you have the itch to buy it if the price is right?

Paul,
I don't recall the factory codes as like the VIN,  Homie didn't do stuff like that back then... but underneath I recall it being T-5.
It had been repainted with a different color... most likely an enamel before I got it.   It was a more intense cinnamon color.    It cost $1500 and a blown up 67 Camaro back in '78.   I blew up the 8 3/4
the first Friday night I had it out.   Ripped every tooth off the 4.30 ring gear.   Had a replacement 4.30 pig put in for about $300 the next week.

That would be awesome!

I would love to find my old GTO,
Z28

let alone the Daytona and  69 Z28 Dad had when I was a kid.

Although, realsitically I could swing the first two but not the second two.

Funny, the guy says he "doesn't want to be a butthead" in the ad, but then he says "$7000 FIRM"!!
And that he's willing to let it sit for an additional 29 years if he doesn't get his price!

Lets see....no carb, rusty, engine stuck, rusty, other parts missing, rusty, interior pooched, and rusty.

The guy is a butthead!

I say get e-booger to do a story on your quest for your old ride. Then see if Mopar Action will kick in some coin. I doubt either would happen but it would be a good story. Plus the base for some tech tips that I can use. I think the next one they have is: how to install 2X4 bumpers on your dakato.

He already told me to buy the dam thing....    but if it's not my old ride,  it's just another rotted non numbers slushbox R/T that I don't need.  But he's got a few cool parts that would be nice to have laying around.

When the hardcore quarters came out,   he helped get a set to fit up on a customer car over at Empire Mopars.     The originals sucked so they were destroyed and were replaced later.    Yeah... that kinda stuff would be cool to get "gratis" but if it's already been done it's not gonna happen.

I'll mention the 2x4 bumpers to Rick.   I think I'd have a hard time choosing between 2x8 or 4x4 post if I had a Dak myself.  :icon_smile_big:

That's what he is saying.  He's not saying he's not a butthead.

Just a few years ago, I'd see bigger pieces of rusted out crap go for much more, and not even R/Ts.

Offer him what you think is fair and go from there. Or better yet show up at his place with the amount of cash you want to spend on it, you would be suprised how quickly people change there mind when the money is right in front of them.
