'69 Charger Drip Rail Padding

Hey guys, I kinda screwed up here...

After getting my '69 Charger back from paint, I've been cleaning and buffing all of my brightwork before installation. Before I cleaned up my drip rails, I noticed bits of the factory foam padding was flaking off. Without thinking, I scraped it all off. Do any of you guys know where I can get some of this adhesive-backed padding? Does 3M make anything like this? Any online stores have anything like this?

Man, I knew I should've taken a couple pictures.

Below the drip rail, there is a long single piece (if its not a drip rail, what do you call it, officially? A molding?) that runs the entire length of the side windows. At its top is a thin strip of adhesive-backed foam padding. I need to replace this stuff.

  Has a few screw to hold it in,,, I think just some single density foam pad............  That is if I kno what your talking about there...... Goes on the roof where the window rolls up?

Yeah, that's it. I believe the weatherstripping snaps up into it. Does the dang thing have a name? I'm on Year One's site and they don't have it anywhere.

i got mine from E-bay - dont remember the exact company but it is just 1/8" foam that is free...    I then used some 3M super adhesive to attach it to the moulding.

Did you look at the pic on ricks site?  Some people do not remove that part from a car.  It goes where the window rolls up into or on top of that trip part..... ITs there, unless someone had taken it out before you.

Did you look at the pic on ricks site?  Some people do not remove that part from a car.  It goes where the window rolls up into or on top of that trip part..... ITs there, unless someone had taken it out before you.

I figured it out now.  It took a little while but, I got it now.   Thanks    Although, that trim piece on my driver's side is cracked in half at the bend where the top of the vent window would rest.

That is the correct stuff, but I do not believe it has adhesive.  The stuff I bought didn't anyway.  It does just hold on with the screws.

I bought the whole paint seal kit. Nice quality, had stuff that the softseal kits didn't have, namely those drip rail foam gaskets.

Update:

I just got in the mail and installed the "Restorations by Rick" foam seal and there's a couple problems. First, the seal is too dang wide, like over a 1/4-inch too wide. And it's also about 3-inches too short. What I had to do was slowly apply the adhesive side without pressing down on the extra width hanging over the edge. Then, with a fresh razor blade, I trimmed off the excess, measured two lengths and cut up two smaller strips to fill in the missing 3-inches.

No, this foam goes on the back side of the stainless (between the trim and the roof) then the trim gets screwed to the car. Also, its been a while since I did my car, but I don't think I used any adhesive (maybe just on the ends  ) on the black roofrail weatherstripping, it kinda just locks in to the metal trim and holds itself there...

No, this foam goes on the back side of the stainless (between the trim and the roof) then the trim gets screwed to the car. Also, its been a while since I did my car, but I don't think I used any adhesive (maybe just on the ends  ) on the black roofrail weatherstripping, it kinda just locks in to the metal trim and holds itself there...

Oh I see, it's a seal for the trim, not the weatherstripping.  That makes sense.  The trim does hold the weatherstripping nicely so I would think a few drops of adhesive would be plenty.

I just cleaned up my orginal moulding rails yesterday, and they also had a thin strip of grey putty at the sharp corner, between the black foam and the rail.  It was about 8 inches long (4 inches on each side of the corner).

It looked like it was intended to fill the gap created by the joint of the two rails at the corner.

I used grey rope putty from the hardware store, 4 strips laid side by side and pressed flat. I then used two-faced tape to hold the black foam until the whole assy got screwed into place.  I don't think the screws should be tightened down until the windows are in place, so that a final position adjustment can be made to the rail/moulding.
