Found this one today.  Could it be true?  The guy has 100% positive feedback too. Why hide the bulk of the tag?   :shruggy:

Check out Ebay Item number: 190328863820    A supposed XP29 Hemi car.

I had it linked but it went right to my account for some reason, even though I was signed out..  But, check it out.

Please excuse my ignorance but, what's the tab thing under the tag in the picture?  :shruggy:

Just 6T9 CHGR

Its a tear off line inspection tag.

Some cars got this extra metal tag, which was attached to one of the screws that held the fender tag,  that had different codes in the perforated metal....at select stages on the assy line, line workers would tear off their corresponding tab when their work or inspection was complete.
Some cars made it out with some remnants of this tag

Now, why in the world would you edit/cover all the other portions of the fender tag? What's the use? It's not like you're going to steal a car, it's destroyed. Maybe duplicate it?

I remember a few years back,  I emailed Galen Govier about my fender tag out of sheer curiosity.  I wrote down all of the codes on a piece of paper and since then....the tag had mostly rusted away.  He said he could duplicate this one for me.  Not that I'm the least bit interested because of all of the changes done to it, but it was good to know that it could be done.

Ghoste

Yes, there was that 70 oddball but I'm still waiting for hard proof that a 69 Hemi XP exists or ever did.  The circumstantial evidence is mounting all the time but I'm still on the side of the fence for the non-believers.

only thing i cna think of is having someone build a car off the tag and claim its the real car before he gets his money for the tag, like someone can build a car that quick, once they buy the tag they can still build the car and he can't prove otherwise unless he keeps the original title to prove it was scrapped

Those were all 1966 models though were they not?  If so then don't forget that in 1966, up until the Charger introduction in January of 1966, the Coronet and Satellite were the only things you culd get a Street Hemi in.  There were no RT's, or GTX's, or Road Runners yet and Chrysler needed to get Hemi's on the road quick to keep the mill qualified for NASCAR.

Wow, that's really crazy. I've never seen such a thing. AND WHY WAS THE CAR PARTED AND DETROYED? :flame: I guess some things can't be saved, but you'd think with such a pedigree that they would have done everything possible to save this one.

so if you had the tag, you still need the vin plate to register.

i know where you get data tags from, but the vin plate? who re-pops those?

If you have enough money you can fake just about anything.
