Whatever you do don't toss them or sell them for scrap metal, old converter cores are getting hard to come by and rebuilders will buy them.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Is there a deference between a 440 & 383 converter?

John_Kunkel

Depends on the year, prior to '75 all 440's used the 11 3/4" converter, '75-'77 could be either and all '78 used the 10 3/4" converter. In some years the 383 and the 440 used the same converter.

Thanks John for the info, all my converters are prior 75, so they should 11 3/4 "
