Les Paul, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar, died at 94 earlier today.

RIP Les  :rotz:

Think of all the great guitarists that had a Les Paul slung around his shoulders.

Les is beyond great and practically unknown. His influence and importance is unmatched on all types of music. Hope there are a lot of documentaries coming to tell his story. :(

That sucks, I knew I shouldn't have waited to go see his show.  :'(

There was a show recently that he was scheduled to play, but a substitute guitarist was filling in. Bernie Williams, the former Yankees center fielder, actually. I bet he wasn't been doing too well for a while.

I met him about 15 years ago at a music store in New Jersey. He was part of a seminar at Robbie's Music in Mahwah on Rte. 17 & I got an autographed picture from him. Nice guy, very friendly, & he'll definitely be missed.

RIP he lived in my town, Mahwah,NJ , I know some of his neighbors.

Les Paul.......THE best rock guitar ever invented and designed.....just ask Zakk Wylde.....Also the most recognized guitar as well  other than the Gibson "V" which he also had his hands in.  He also invented the multi-tracking concept, meaning isolating different instruments on their own tracks..(channels)  definately a pioneer.....As a metal musician....metal would have never existed if it wasn't for his inventions and designs...RIP...Les Paul....you'll never be forgotten.

He was originally from Waukesha, Wisconsin. He was here a year ago when they open a small museum dedicated to him and his work.

He also invented multi-track recording too.

If any of them lived near him in the early to mid 70's, Ask them if they remember him driving a mid 60's Ford Ranchero.

There's loads of Les Paul video on YouTube.  He's forgotten more than I'll ever know on guitar.  I'm just glad I can play what I do know, lol.  I was watching some of his stuff and can see where Jimmy Page was influenced by him in his licks.  Cool stuff.
