reverse lights stay on

i installed new engine trans,and dash harnesses, along with new trans on my 72,, now the reverse lights stay on in all gears except park and neutral any ideas how to find this problem and fix it

Is a new switch in the trans .And hooked up right

new switch installed and harness plug tried in both directions light still stays on

Might be switch not making good contact internally.Do you have the old switch to match up .It might be longer or shorter where it goes inside?
