I think I figured out what my last minute thrash project is going to be...

Originally it looked like I'd be working up until the last minute trying to get my A/C going, but it looks like I'll get that knocked out this weekend or early next week.

So this morning I'm washing the car in preparation for a cruise-in this afternoon and I'm drying the windows. I lift the passenger side wiper blade to dry underneath it and I hear a "pop" and then the wiper pivots freely.  :cussing:

I guess a pivot came loose in the wiper transmission.

Easy repair... if you can get to it. Unfortunately, I've got a console shift car with A/C. There is all kinds of crap in the way. Maybe I can get to it if I pull out the stereo.

Sorry to hear about that. I hope it all works out for you and you get it fixed in time  !

You'll have it fixed in no time.  It won't be the Nats if you don't have a last minute AC issue.  ;)

Looks like I will be hacking on the A/C as well. I just got back from doing a roadside repair. :( On the way home from the cruise-in this evening, I threw a compressor/alternator belt during a 5500 rpm upshift. Of course the one belt took out every other belt... and ripped up my hood pad.

I might have a slight belt alignment problem.  :brickwall:

pull the radio and the glovebox liner, and you should be able to get to both pivots.

Thinking back to when I did a set of those Schumaker wiper seals, I pulled the instrument cluster, glovebox liner, and radio.
As to the alignment issue, I used a laser pointer to get mine trued up.  It took a while to get it set up but once I did, it was real easy to rotate and see which pulley was the culprit and by how much.

When I did my Schumacher kit I pulled the glovebox liner and the inst cluster.......didnt have to touch the radio

I had the inst cluster and radio out anyway while I did the schumacher kit.    But mine's a factory no air car anyhow so I must just be postho'ing here cause it don't matter.

The radio may be in a location that is more in the way on 1st gens?

I definitely got my drivers side pivot out without having to pull anything...then again I have no ducting under the dash...

Got my wiper pivot fixed last night. It had just popped off. Turned out it was easier to remove the duct-work than it was to remove my aftermarket radio. Wasn't too bad of a job. If I would have needed to do more than reach up and pop it back together, the radio would have had to come out.

Think I got the belt problem fixed too over the past weekend. I had to shim the alternator a bit to get the alignment right.

I still am messing with the A/C. It works, but my heater control valve doesn't. Got a rebuilt one on the way. Should have it Monday. It's about a 30 minute job to replace it.

Now I've still got 5 days to tear-up something else....

I solved my most recent vibration today.  Now it's clean up and set the timing back to a normal number for the drive.
