rebuild kit

i  got a rebuild kit for the coupler body on the steering column.....it came with 2 small pcs of thin cardboard like material and a little silver pin with the kit with all the other stuff....where the hell does the aforementioned pcs. go??   lol

The tiny pin will fit a hole in the cup it acts as a keeper, I've got nothing on the cardboard.
