He was one of the three noted guitarists — the others being Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page — to have played with The Yardbirds. He was ranked 14th in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time", and MSNBC has called Beck a "guitarist's guitarist".
Much of Beck's recorded output has been instrumental, with a focus on innovative sound and his releases have spanned genres ranging from blues-rock, heavy metal, jazz fusion and most recently, an additional blend of guitar-rock and electronica. Okay, you need a better excuse than being a west coaster that's far away from England. A good number of bands on the list you posted are FROM England.     (Wham, The Clash, Flock of Seaguls, Bananarama, & Billy Idol)

Everything I liked started back in 1981 as a Junior in high school.

1 Dukes of Hazzard
2 Knight rider was a sin to watch after the dukes. 1982
3 Mtv
4 My macho dirt bike that kids made fun of because it had a macho sticker on it.  
5 Mono radio

I was a very active kid living in sunny So cal 365 days a year.

I don't ever recall seeing any Jeff Beck on MTV other than a couple of Rod Stewart collaborations. My wife is a Rod Stewart fan, so when I found out he was touring with Stewart, we got tickets. Unfortunately by the time the show happened, Beck dropped out of the tour.

Rod Stewart: Early Years
Born the youngest of five children, Roderick David Stewart grew up in London, England. Rod Stewart worked an assortment of odd jobs, including a silk screen printer, grave digger, and sign writer, before venturing into a music career. The Ray Davies Quartet (later known as The Kinks), Jimmy Powell & the Five Dimensions, The Hoochie Coochie Men (later becoming Steampacket), and Shotgun Express were all bands that Rod Stewart joined during the 1960s, a decade where the raspy-voiced singer earned the nickname "Rod the Mod." It wasn't until joining the Jeff Beck Group that Rod Stewart would enjoy success on both sides of the Pond.

In the first few minutes of the part 2 interview I posted, he talks about how he wrecked one of his cars on a bad curve after leaving Eric Clapton's house. He drove off the road, got stuck & couldn't get out of a ditch. When he saw blood he decided that it was a good idea to go for help. Later he mentions that Claptons wife went to go pick him up & that Eric was pissed thinking she was leaving early in the morning to go meet Beck for something else.

That happened to me too, but on the 2nd & 3rd time it went all the way to the end.
