Is this block a 1969 440-6 bbl block?  Casting number is 253643010, cast date is 11-6-68, and the pad on the pass. side of block behind motor mounts just above the oil pan rail is 9D228288. I haven't found a vin #. Anyone have a picture of the external balanced damper? What else should I look for on the exterior of the motor to help identify this block?

Thanks in advance for you help.

Pad on top , E 440 Maltese symbol with x after ( .010" u/s crankshaft)
                  1-8   HP2

Doesn't 69 blocks have vin #s on them. or that didn't start until after Jan. 1, 1969. I looked some more but still can't find a vin #.

Tan Top, you are correct.  All 69 6bbl cars were assembled at Lynch Road.  But to elaborate on the 6bbl motor ID, unless the body exists and can be matched to the VIN on the block there is virtually no way to PROVE a particular Lynch Road  9AXXXXXX HP block is from a 6bbl car.

Well I did some more research tonight, and you guys are correct. 9Dxxxxxx would be for a Sport Fury or Fury III with the sequence the last six digits. I read on 440source that the numbers on the pad are the serial number. Well it's not a 6 bbl block  :'( :'( thanks for all the reply, Does anybody have a picture of the damper for a 6 bbl engine?

Is November too early for a Six-Pack?  My '69 was built on September 4, 1968, and it has the full VIN on it and the transmission.
