Wildly excessive ammeter fluctuation?

At least in my opinion it's wildly excessive.  In any case it has never done it before and it seems to only be at lower rpm.  Likely cuplrit?

Voltage regulator ?. .Mopars to do tend to discharge at low rate of speed.Did you have on headlights or things that carry a heavy load on.How about amp gauge its self and its connections.And connections at bulkhead clean and tight.Everything well grounded.Anything loose or coroded will cause resistance.

Depend of the rest of charging system conditions one of the reson to all that fluctiation is the low charge at iddel issue. The constant fluctuation is what melts everything. As far you find a nice iddle charging, you will stop that.

I guess on those years the traffic wasn't a big issue like now is. Also weather has changed, so more A/C requirements.

More time stopped at a traffic light where the brake lighst are sucking power from batt and not from alt more time will take an alt to charge when you are revving up, so more fluctuations allong the day including high and constant peaks, speacially with heater or blower, and headlights turned on.
