Agreed...better overall performance from the X-Pipe.  The X-Pipe best equalizes the exhaust and subsequently has an improved scavenging impact, which is where the power comes from  :yesnod:

Basically think of it as an improved design on the factory type "crossover" or H-pipe.  Common sense would dictate that the "X" design is going to flow better than the more cumbersome and restrictive "H" design which typically installas at a 90 degree angle to the head pipes.  The "X" takes the same concept and applies technologial advancements.  The sound is toned down a little, but some prefer that...For everyone else there are the power gains that justify the drop in DBs, lol.

earlier someone was asking for sound clips of various mufflers and most of them are on their respective sites if your still interested

www.dynomax.com
www.flowmastermufflers.com

i didn't notice a sound clip on borla but that doesn't mean its not there
i tried to put in 1968 dodge (thats as far back as it would go) for a recommended muffler but they said they didn't have a part number for that vehicle

i dont care for the sound clips that they give on the sites. i feel they are not accurate.

here is the latest video of my car with the origonal 40 series flowmaster's in 3 inch diameter. the video is taken with all 4 windows down in the car. shifts were at 6500 rpm and kicking it out of gear at 5000 in 4th. i think the video's will show that the flowmaster's dont make your car sound like a mustang and they are not "tinny"

i've always thought the same thing...it varies so much by motor and whatnot....but i suppose its a baseline...

well my new exhasut came in today, stay tuned- hopefully i will get it installed tomarrow- 3 inch all the way out the rear mated to 50 series suv flowmasters

Purple440

I don't like the higher pitched droning sound of my flowmaster 50's and will be replacing them at some point.   I want that low natural rumble that a big block should sound like.

Good choice Per !  :2thumbs: I had mine out the other night at a local cruise in and got lots of positive comments on the exhaust tone. I have an x-pipe and Ultraflows just like you're installing. No drone cruising down the road and a nice rumble at idle. They really Bark at WOT as well !  :icon_smile_big:

I run Flowmaster 40 and i like the sound of it outside the car.
Only thing i don´t like is the rumble inside the car at 1800-2000 rpm....
