How should I register my car in the local car show?

There are 3 category's which my car is eligible, A) Factory Muscle 1972, B) 1960-1969 C) Unfinished.

The only problem with A is that my car is not a "factory muscle car" I made it into a R/T clone.

My car fits into B no problem.

Category C would be because while i have a 440 motor and transmission I am missing the brakes, the rear end, the larger wheels and tires, and general body work to make it into a true R/T clone.

So what do you think I should classify my car as?

A or B because it is made into a Muscle car look a like.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Assuming this is an all makes car show, I don't think they care about whether it's "close enough" as a clone (because they probably don't know what's correct any way). So, think like and average spectator - not a car guy. Typically, the Unfinished category is for cars that are "works in progress" (ie primer or visible body work, no interior, missing trim, etc.). I'm not sure too many people would consider needing a rear end swap to qualify as being unfinished. Similarly, most people will see a Charger as a Musclecar no matter what engine it had originally. I think the 1960-1969 class will probably contain trucks and family cars.

Well...imo, when they say factory muscle, I'm not sure how "fickle" the judging would be, meaning  are they looking for correct factory cars as far as date coded everything blah blah blah...It all depends on the integrity of the car show itself, for example  if it was to be presented as a Barrett Jackson piece,  well...I wouldn't categorize it as factory muscle, so "A" would not be in the cards.  "B"  1960-1969...to me would be the best choice considering there is no descriptions of the category.  "C"  being unfinished....well...when I think unfinished,  I picture a car still in primer, missing mouldings, interior pieces, and what not.   I'm going to say "B".....final answer Regis!!!...lol

As long as it has decent paint on it ... factory muscle.
1960-9 classes are for things like granny's 4 door.
And unfinished means work in progress... not too lazy to do anything.

Ouch, kinda harsh don't you think,

I'm only a college kid, I didn't have enough money to do everything so I figured the motor and transmission would be good for right now. I was planning to do the rest this winter but with tuition rising I'm not sure if I can even do it then.

Ask them when you get there if you are in the right class.

most shows reserve the right to reclasify cars when you show up.

personally I would sign up for "A"
Two door Big Block cars are considered muscle cars by most.

After thinking further on it.... the "categorizing" seems to be not-so-knowledgeable.  I'm not saying there is no enjoyment or anything like that, but I would've categorized the car show differently....for example....There would be a "best in show"  class...meaning  the publics favorite,  "Best Custom"  class...meaning, hot rods, resto-mods, or anything else that has custom-built characteristics,  "Factory Original" class...meaning having knowledgeable judges picking apart the cars for factory correctness, "Best Classic/muscle car"  class....meaning a nicely built car with beefed up engine, suspension, etc, maybe aftermarket rims.....you get the idea, "Daily Driver" class,  And of course, other than best in show, have all of the categories separated under Mopar, GM, Ford, AMC....etc.etc.  Maybe throw "Works in Progress" in there somewhere....it just doesn't seem too specific to me.  I've seen shows with many different categories, which makes the judging and the event more interesting not only for the judges, but for the public as well.  So after reading the posts, and thinking about it, I guess any one of those categories would fit in to your area.  You have to excuse me.....sometimes I can just run-off at the mouth....haha........Ace

Sublime/Sixpack

You could do "Display Only" unless you're hoping to win an award.
1970 Sublime R/T, 440 Six Pack, Four speed, Super Track Pak

If you are going to pay to enter the show you might as well take the award if they decide to give you one.

Just remember if you don't win its not your fault the judges are just ignorant fools.

miller: your post said "missing the brakes, the rear end, the larger wheels and tires". I'm not clear, is it on blocks and a non-op? If so, how do you get the beast to the show? Or, are you just wanting to replace the current components but it's drivable?

If it's the first, then C is a cool category. You just have some work to do to display it and tell the story of what stage the cloning is in. That would make it educational and a crowd pleaser. Everyone roots for the build in progress.

If it's the second, then A is where it goes 'cause muscle is muscle.

Hope you have fun either way.  :yesnod:

It needs those pieces to complete the "R/T clone" - the car is drivable now but with non-R/T equipment.

Exactly, I feel bad classifying it as a R/T clone because I know how much work you guys put into your cars to make them complete replicas. True I have a 440, but with 10" Drums, 8 1/4 rear end, and no sway bar... I feel like I'm cheating the people who spent the cash to have it done right.

But 95-99% of the people at a show don't know or care. ;)

Just enter it and enjoy it!

That's what I thought this thread was about before I clicked on it. :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
