does anyone know what type of filler the factory used on the roof where the quarters were welded? was it different on the cars with the vinal roof?
i've had my 69 for probably 25 years and cant imagine that both quarters were replaced before i owned it but after sanding all the glue and crap it looks like some hack just threw them on. im going from vinal to no vinal and am wondering if they did things differently for vinal roof cars.

Charger-Bodie

Starting in 69 they went to using a seam sealer like putty on the sail panel seam, but only on vinyl top cars....Non vinyle cars had a leaded seam.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

do you happen to know the color of that putty?, and did they do a crappy job hanging the quarters?

I agree - It looks a little like bondo.

69 OUR/TEA

Heres about the closest pic I have to contribute for this topic,it was a putty/bondo that was there.Since the vinyl is being deleted from this car,I made a bridge with weld to connect the 1/4 to roof skin on the corner to take up the void and carefully grinded it into shape as to minimize the filler right on the edge like that, and also welded up the factory joint alot more than just the spot welds and one or two migs that were there.

yep mine was exactly the same ..  :yesnod:
