Looking to sell my Charger 500......it sold

I'm looking to sell my 69 C500 and i'm wondering what the interest would be from you guys who are looking.  I've had the car since 2003 and it seems like i'm not going to have the time or money to restore it so i'd rather sell it off and get something in decent driveable condition.  I have 3 kids under the age of 5 and a SAHM that are more important to me than fixing up another Charger.  I'd rather spend my time on nights and weekend driving them to the local car shows for ice cream.
Anyways, i'm thinking around $20,000 for my car, because the car i want to buy is $20,000.  Here is the fender tag:

VIN #:   XX29L9B214385

T7   T7   C6T   T3   B18   925410

We all get the itch to bail on certain cars when we get "tired" of not driving them. I remember when you got that car, & also remember watching the auction or wherever it was listed back when halpaggy was selling it. Looks better now, but still a lot of work. I can see why, especially after buiding a garage & such, you get burned out to an extent. I've been there before & hate it.

by the way, don't sell it to me if I ask to come look, I'll just piss people off putting my wing & nose cone on it.  :smilielol:

I was trying to catch up by reading your old posts.  You had a '68 with a 440 that you sold?  Thought I read that you were swapping the 440 and 5spd (?) in to the 500?  That must not have happened.

You gonna go to the Charger picnic on the 23rd?  My wife and I are planning on heading up from the southern part of the state.  Would like to see the 500.

Hi Paul,

Sorry to hear you want to get rid of your 500.  :'(  They aren't getting any easier to find. I know mine is going to be sitting for a while before I have enough money to start on it.
Any way you could buy a car to drive now that's a little cheaper, even if it's not a Charger, then keep the 500 put away somewhere? I saw this Coronet on CL in Minnesota that looks pretty good for the price. Not sure if it's still for sale or not. Just trying to give you another option. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks  for clearing that up for me Paul.
Hope to see you on the 23rd.

You see that Cuda on the trailer hooked to the red Ram QC? That was the v-code 'Cuda I picked up for $1,350 and sold it 2 weeks later for $10,200 enabling me to get my current v-code '70.  :icon_smile_big:

How did you manage that! :o

I was at the right place at the right time. It helps that I'm widely known in the area, so it's not 100% fluke. The car was owned by someone who could care less about the car, got it free anyways and hence, any money he made, he was happy with. With that being said, I saw the potential and knew this was my ticket to the '70 v-code Charger R/T I wanted. As all know, I was able to sell it, add that money to what I already had and buy the '70 Charger R/T I have now. If the fender tag was there, I had standing offers of over $20K !!!!!

If I don't keep this car, it'll go towards something that's pretty much done.. After all, I have my Daytona now, so I could deal with a 4bbl car.

I always liked your 500. After the 3 year resto of my 68 Charger I'm totally wiped out on doing anymore restorations. No more major cutting, plasma burning, welding, grinding, having everything taste like paint dust etc.,etc. The Charger I have now was my third full resto and next time I think I would rather spend the money and buy a turn key car. I'm not getting any younger and the time and money spent parts chasing and working on a project car three times now has really taken its toll. I would rather just pony up the money and be able to put the keys in it a drive it right away. But, I still have the I can save every Mopar mentallity. I've been doing this for over 35 years and admittedly, once it's in your blood it never goes away...Just keep the car, buy a very nice driver and slowly spend the rest of your life fixing the 500. There wouldn't be as much stress trying to finish the car if you already had a nice driver. I know one thing is for sure, I went three years without a ride because I made the mistake of selling my 100% finished 426 wedge, hemi 4 speed, dana 60 1964 Sport Fury. That will NEVER happen again. Good luck in whatever you decide. I wish years ago I would have taken pictures of a 69 Charger 500 I missed out on before we all knew that these cars would be in such demand. It was a 1969 Charger 500 with a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner nose on it. Get this, the nose wasn't changed out because of an accident, the guy liked the Road Runner nose better so he put it on. The original Charger nose was intact and was to be given to the buyer of the car if they wanted it. Back in 1978 $1,200.00 was way more than most thought the car was worth. I think the car finally sold for $800.00 and I years later it ended up in a junk yard after having led a rough life through the hands of several owners...If we only knew...This sickness all started back in 1976 witha 1970 Dodge Charger and I haven't be able to find a cure for this desease yet...Again, good luck and keep us posted so I can cry when you sell it saying to myself I should have bought that car cause I could have "saved" it.

I would hate to be in Paul's shoes again; been there, done that. It's hard giving up on an Aerocar you've had for so long. But, the itch to have something you and your family can enjoy becomes overwhelming. That's the same reason I'm selling/trading my '70 v-code Charger R/T project for a 4bbl Charger R/T. I think we both know what we have, so like me, Paul's not going to just give it away. Words of encouragement are nice. Some times, you just have to press on............

Sold to the highest bidder for $15,399.   :'(

I turned down offers of $13k and $14k, so i guess this was a fair price for it.  Not quite the $18,500 i was hoping for but, it could have been worse.

And now i have about 5 or 6 more buyers for a C500 if anyone is looking to sell one, get ahold of me., i'll sell you my list of these buyers for $3000...  :icon_smile_big:   :icon_smile_big:   :icon_smile_big:

Montana.  The guy is a miner and he has a collection of mopars going, mostly trak pak cars, but something perked his interest with my car so he bought it.
I introduced him to this site, he was mostly only using ebay, so hopefully he will chime in here.  Ya thats ok that i didnt get a little more money but i set the reserve at what i thought would be a good buy and hoped for the best.  I guess $15,400 is what the "current market value" is for rusty project C500.

Well the guy finally picked up the C500 tonight.  He had a 4 place trailer behind a small single rear axle peterbuilt truck.  He had a early 50's Jeep wagon panel truck, a 76 Warlock truck, and a 69 Coronet R/T convertible.  The C500 went up on top.
It took us about 2 hours to load everything up, and my garage is a LOT more cleaner now than what it was before.  It was sad to see it go but now i feel a huge weight is lifted of my manly chest.  I think i was more attached to the hillside hemi than the rest of the car...  :'(
These pictures suck but its the best i could do in the dark.

Paul

Now, on with the California R/T that i bought to replace the C500!!!!!   :boogie:

Hello paul,
I have been looking for my broadcast sheet for my c500.
I may have found the one for this (your car)car.
My #is 214387, yours is 214385.
I will try to put the owner of the sheet intouch with you and you guys can work it out.
I think you have sold this car though.
But the new owner would probably want it.
Was this an r4 car?
I was hoping the sheet i found was for mine , but i saw your car earlier and thought, hey i think i found one for this guy.
I would have rather found mine but this is the way it worked out.
I will write this person and give him your PocketThunder name and i hope he gets a hold of you.
Let me know in a few days if this worked out for you as i think these sheets belong to the cars.
Hope you get it and can reunited with the car.
I have you saved in my buddies list.
I may take a bit to get back to you as i work oilfield, but i will respond to you as soon as i can.
Good Luck, hope it all works out in the end.

Hi Jim, that would be very cool if you did find my old cars build sheet.  However my old car was T7 Bronze, not R4 Red.  Last i knew, from fellow member MsMopar, is that my old cars original build sheet was lost in the second owners house somewhere, in SE Wisconsin, and then he moved and MsMopar lost contact with him.  So if the build sheet your friend found is in the Kenosha area of Wisconsin, then it just might be mine.
