I always check Snopes first - and this time it's true.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/blairholt.asp

However, this is in the summary at the bottom:
QuoteAs was the 2007 version of Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act, the current version has been referred to the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security, and the fact that the bill does not have even a single co-sponsor makes it unlikely that it will ever be brought to a vote before Congress, much less passed.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

With so many gun owners in U.S. it's most likely will not pass, ever.

that little part i read was that it was to be added as part of the tax code and it wouldn't be voted on by anyone and the people wouldn't know about it until it had already become a tax law??

There's plenty of restrictive gun legislation that was passed in disregard of the number of gun owners, all it takes is some "knee jerk" reaction to a mass killing to get them started again.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I would hope that the NRA has the ability to put the brakes on this type of reform. I guess the government doesn't want us to have guns so they can use their hammer's and sicle's to control us.

elanmars

they already don't control us?

not to derail the thread much but what's a few guns going to do good against TANKS, SWAT, DELTA FORCE, MARINES etc?

there's no chance at a rebellion lasting long, at all. I just think the military/special forces would totally wipe the floor.

Sorry but if you think the majority of American Soldiers would follow any orders using force against fellow Americans, might want to rethink what you know about our military.

The first thing that comes to mind is/was Kent State in 1970.

The Military is to defend the constitution, and you'll find that there are millions more of us that are sworn to do the very same through organizations like Amvets, American Legion and so on. That does not include doing whatever the president or congress thinks needs to be done.

Ahh!! but Shakey, that was Ohio National Guardsmen who did that.  While there is a chance they might try to use the national guard for such, it still doubt even most of theGuardsmen would follow those orders nowadays.
