(sigh) Guys  .  .  .

With enough money and AMD parts, this would be theoretically fixable.  If it was a HemiCuda then some clown would definitely be jacking that thing back into shape and destroying a donor car to "save" it:

So would you equate jumping that thing with "wrecking a restorable Charger"?

   --------------------------------------

So, is a rotten shell a "Charger" or not?  This standard gets applied selectively just to bash GL jumps and not bash restorations.

I have to ask,  :D what year is that charger?

I just watched the youtube video of the jump. I hope that guy ended up in traction..... I think the Dukes of Hazzard was the worst thing to ever happen to Chargers!  still like the show. But all these dumbasses that think its cool to just keep making them and trashing them are the biggest idiots in the world!

Well for your info bud, the Dukes is what got or should I say is keeping the chargers alive. If it wasn't for them, I bet alot more chargers would be dead but setting out in a field somewhere going to waste. Also look at how many chargers died due to stupid driving and also DUI idiots also  :brickwall: .

Also what about Knight Rider (trans Am's)? and also The Fall Guy (Chevy and GMC trucks)? or The A-Team (the van)? The Dukes wasn't the only show to kill vehicles off.

That guy in the clip, I hate to say this, but I know him, Not personally though.

Landonsrt

Actually, The chargers would be just fine not having the DOH BUD! Lots of the cars in knight rider were fake. (and the last season of the dukes) And my car was saved from a field. Whats the point in making them up just to destroy them for a stupid jump? Thats like if it would be allowed in cash for clunkers.
Just destoying a piece of history.

Well, I know quite afew folks that have save chargers, but wasn't charger fans before, only GL fans. Now they have come to love chargers as well not just as a GL. On Knight Rider, if you watch close and I do mean close, you will see that alot of the cars where in fact real cars. The one that was fake was a dune buggy with a TA body shell place over top of it. You could that one easy when it did a jump. Look at that one and watch the other cars. Big different in the two  :icon_smile_wink:. The dune buggy when landed would make the whole shell wable and the real cars wouldn't as they would buckle and you would see the front nose come apart as well also just before they cut to a close up. Now have you ever rode a dirt bike/four wheeler/anything and jump it? well if you had, then why did you do it for then? remember, it's a stupid jump.  :smilielol:

But one thing I will agree with you on here is that your right, these cars are part of history so why destory them for.

Landonsrt

Some of them were dune buggy jumps. Others were glorified matchbox cars. And the difference with the few small jumps ive made and the GL car cruching jumps is- ive never destroyed anything in the process.

Me neither, and I never will/would. I think it's a shame what they do to these cars.. The rows and rows and rows of Chargers I've seen pics of that were trashed filming the DOH was crazy..

But, on the other hand, I have to admit, without the DOH being embedded into my head at the early age of 8 years old, I never would have known what a Charger was.    And I especially wouldn't have gone to the lengths to have one restored as I am... It made a huge impact in my life.

Does it mean I'm gonna go off and jump a creek? Hell no!!!

I can't find the shot I'm thinking, but it was from the late 70's and showed the line up of Generals ready/used in the filming..

I wish i could just carry a 9mm with me and just put a bullet in some peoples heads and do the world a favor.

Come on, you tell me you haven't ran a demo durby? I'll admit it right here right now that I haven't and I don't plan to either.

The Knight Rider cars was also RC cars at times. But alot of the real cars also did the jumps to. Watch 1st season Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death (I think thats the name of the episode) where you can see the TA take on damage from the jump over the orange 69 charger. The Dukes also on the other hand had models they used in the 6th and 7th season to. These was the worst years of the show ever.

Landonsrt

I agree. Without the DOH, I would have no intentions of buying a charger, especially a 69. But its been 27 years since that show has been on TV and yet another charger or more dies every year.

I agree with you on that also. It's been around 30 to 31 years now sense the show started and 24 years sense it went off the air. But my question is almost like you are saying.

Why are they still killing chargers off for each year for these events. Find another car to do it with for god shakes! :RantExplode:

Because as long as they can round up a few people who will pay money to wet their pants over "gittin' to see one of them Dukes cars git jumped", it will keep happening.

Agreed.

I don't know if he actually survived it, but that passenger cabin did surprisingly well for the era.  It's not easy to fold up the entire front clip that severely.

But this case does point out that the collapsible steering column doesn't collapse far enough, though.  He probably got to taste the steering wheel.

I was thinking the same thing  :yesnod:

Damn shame! :rotz: there should be a federal law against destroying antique cars, just like some buildings that can't be torn down because they are so old it's considered a landmark. I liked the Dukes of hazzard too, but come on enough is enough it was a TV SHOW!! NOT REALITY!! :brickwall:

I am lost for words here, donĀ“t understand the entertainment value at all. :brickwall: :brickwall:

Some people would make the same "butchery!" and "it should be illegal!" arguments about modifying musclecars in most or all other ways too.
