took me a bit to figgure out how to manipulate the photo (click and drag) but yeah, interesting page and articles,.. i also liked the photo of General Ripper..

I belive that is a chrome one under there. It's down low enough where the light with the camera won't catch it I think. 

That poor charger took one heck of a very hand hit.

I'm 25 and this is a story my dad told me growing up. Dad would have been 23 when this happened, a year older than Terry (the guy who owned the Charger and died in the article).

He had a friend (Terry) that owned a '69 Charger R/T and the friend got stopped on a bridge on the west side of town at an accident and a semi truck came up and was going to smash into the stopped cars so the friend went over the side of the bridge to save his life, ultimately losing it.

I didn't have much information other than that.

Now that google news archives are searchable, I thought it would be neat to try and find the story and I found two, the other one is from the December 11th Spokesman Review.

Talking to my uncle (who is a Mopar guy, 69 GTX owner), who would have been a teenager when this happened, he said he used to ride around with Terry. Terry's Charger was a 440 R/T automatic, silver with a red leather interior and black vinyl roof. He said it had the 4:10 rearend and that it was one of the fastest 440's he's ridden in. He said one night riding with Terry they raced a 427 Shelby Cobra and the Charger came out on top, and it surprised the Cobra owner, who was a schoolteacher and bought the car new.

Anyhow, just thought it was neat to not only find the article from a childhood story, but a picture that shows the Charger R/T too!
