Replaced 5V Regulator with RTE Solid State Limiter

My gauges would sometimes suddenly read high and then go back to normal so I spent the extra $$ for the RTE solid state limiter. It works like a champ but I did have some issues with the installation.

I tried to get at it from the back without removing the dash but I just couldn't reach it.  So I pulled the dash out far enough to reach the limiter. Then, when I was installing it the middle pin of the new regulator fell out!   The rivet holding it just did not hold enough.  So I go to get my rivet gun to fix it and the gun broke. Off I go to Home Depot for a new gun. I was finally able to rivet it back into place and then solder it into position.  Once I did all of that I put the new regulator in, put the dash back and all of the gauges, lights and switches still work. Whew!  I'm glad they all work because I would hate to take it apart again to fix something.

For that kind of $$ the thing should not be coming apart that easily. Good to hear yoy got it in.

:2thumbs: Been there done that job in cramped corners :yesnod: .Glad you got it .Make sure the cluster is well grounded .I had a cluster that wouldnt ground well as the wrong screws used werent holding down cluster frame in center of holes. Just around outside edges and not providing a well grounding cluster and gauges were affected. Those black small head phillips screws are the ones to use  :Twocents:

Boy you got that right!  I was one upset Charger guy when that pin fell right out.   :flame:  All I could think about was all that money and time spent to take out the dash and now I don't have a good regulator.

How about a picture of the whole car?  I love the color and interior color.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

:iagree: :iagree: :iagree: :iagree:

Definitely remove the seat its alot easier, plus you don't have to worry about messing up the seat, especially with a light color interior. :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

I ran an extra ground wire off the back of the cluster. After 40 years, can't expect everything to sit as tight as it used to.

Hey W4ATL-----what size wheel/backspacing are you running.  What size tires.  You car looks very good.  By the way, are you a HAM?  Just wondered with the handle.
