pitman arm seal question

When removing the centre bar I noticed the worn pitman arm seal. When using the pickle fork to seperate the arm/bar the seal got ripped.

This company sells the seal to replace it.

Pitman Arm SEAL - 64-76 All A, B & E Body [New original Mopar part] (this is not the same as idler arm or tie rod end seal as others claim!)

$ 24.95 ea.

1) can I use the old pitman arm and just replace the boot?
2) if so, would it be hard to press it on since there is a metal ring in it, right?

Thanks

1) yes... but if you get new PA, will get also a new seal.
2) Metal ring is part of seal... some seals don't come with it. If comes with, is not a pressed in piece... Seal simply will sits in place with or without ring

Over here in the states most auto parts sell the boxes for about 125 and your old one. As long as your pitman arm is tight where the ball is your pitman arm is probably still good. Now those are what's pricey....about 150 for a new one. I got lucky here a while back and got one cheap from a member here  :icon_smile_big:

Did you get my PM's?

Carl, thanks for the PM's! I didn't have the time to respond yet, saw it this morning and had to leave for work.
