About two weeks ago I took the engine (1969 440) to the machine shop in Ohio (Koffel's place). The plan for the engine is to get around 550hp from the crank and around 450hp from the rear tires.
The engine will be stroked to a 493 and will be using stock looking 906 heads with stock valve covers. I will be using an aftermarket intake but I plan on removing all labeling (Edelbrock) from the intake and painting it to the correct color of the engine.
The ignition system will be a hidden (under console) MSD 6AL-2 with a MSD pro billet distributor and MSD wires.
The Exhaust will have Hooker super competition headers with 2" primaries, the mufflers will be three inch 40 series stainless steel flow masters.  Due to the car not being an R/T, I will not be installing chrome tail pipes; instead I will use three inch turn down tail pipes that are hidden under the car.

Last week I installed a power disc brake booster on the car. (The car originally had manual drum brakes.)

After removing the booster from a 1970 c-body car. I sandblasted the booster then sent it to get rebuilt and have the push rod shortened. When it came back I installed the new master cylinder with the brake line ports on the correct side for a b-body car. I then, primed the booster with an epoxy primer, then a high build primer and sanded it with 220 sand paper, then re-primed the booster and sanded it again was 400 sand paper so that all the pitting from rust over the years was gone. I then, sandblasted the backing plate and linkage and nuts. After painting the booster master cylinder and linkage black, I installed a new clip, new gaskets and new white bushings.

Did you weld your sub frames in while it was on the rotisserie?

Also, thanks for the idea, I duplicated your harbor freight rotisserie design and couldnt be happier!

Yes, I welded the sub frame connectors in with the car on the rotisserie.

Did you weld them in with the car on its side? Any issues with doors pinching?

Yes, I remember seeing this problem & would not recommend also. Is your Exhaust going to be 3inch TTI. For my 3inch TTI they said they did not make turn downs since the 3inch was to big. I wanted turn downs being it's a original California car. P.S. I think Koffels also has a place here in Michigan near Pontiac. The guy I restored the 69 Roadrunner for said he had Koffels here in Michigan rebuild his motor. I can tell you he was slow. At least 6 months. LEON.

No, I'm planing on using hooker headers, flow master mufflers and building a custom 3" exhaust.
Thanks for the info about the Koffels place in Michigan. One of my good friends knows the owners son (Scott) very well and he works down in the Ohio building. It's ok if he's slow....... I need to save up more money. Scott in Ohio will be doing the machine work for the stroker and fixing up the 906 heads so they can flow. After I build the engine he is going to brake-in/dyno it.

The flowmaster 40 series 2 chamber get pretty loud inside the car. I hear the X pipe helps reduce inside resonance noise, I got the H pipe. LEON.

Wow! What a incredible story! What an awesome job as well. Keep up the good work and if you ever find yourself in the U.P. with that thing I would love to see it in person.
