another Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth model just so that you can scavenge some parts off of it?  For example, I have found three Chrysler cars (1-New Yorker and 2-Imperials) that I am solely looking into buying so that I can get the engine and transmission.  They are in fairly decent shape; however, I really wouldn't know what to do with them since I only want the engine and trans.  I would hate to send them to the ol' junkyard in the sky, but I really have no use for them.

Anyhow, since they are C-models, is there anything else that I could use on my '69 Chargers?

Does anyone know if the '72 Imperials all came with the 440 or 383?

Thanks,
Fernando

Thats really sad you are killing some old boats that are in good shape just for the motors. I would like to find a good running old Boat just for a driver!

I love to find screws, nuts, bolts, some of the clips, etc.  They often are the same from different models.... And not I dont think its bad,,, if they are going the the bone yard they may as well give up what can be used, to make another survive..... kind of like organ donation.... :shruggy:

I know plenty of guys who stips IMPs then well you know crash into each other with them......

The Imperials are "Y" bodies, not "C" bodies.  The New Yorker is a "C" body.

The Demolition derby guys give good money for Imperial bodies.

If you get a '72 Imperial, and are going to part it out, pm me. I'm looking for a few parts for my "72 Imperial  :2thumbs:

Where are you?

I might be interested in the bodies, once you pull the 440s  :2thumbs:

That car is fricken sweet!  If I had that car it would be going on some trips very soon! 4500$ is more then I want to pay. A 440 and 727 around here may be worth 800$. I want to find a nice boat for just the "motor and tranny" price!  Old whats his name at the top an'nt payin 4500$ just to pull the motor and tranny and junk it!  And dont get me wrong in thinking your car isnt worth 4500$ as it may very well be its just that I am cheap!   :icon_smile_big:

Love it though!

I used to refer to the full size Mopars as "donor cars".  I don't feel that way so much anymore but still...

I wouldn't want to scrap a decent C body but if they need a lot of work and $ to repair then it probably is the best thing to do.

You can still find a lot of these old girls around in really nice shape because most of the owners didn't spend every weekend trashing them.  ;)

I had a few offers for mine while it was at the shop... all looking to rip out the driveline and toss the rest.

Some lower body work and a paint job later, would you want to crush this?

and the interior is pretty close to perfect in terms of the upholstery and headliner. It could use a new carpet. I've got some sill plates coming. Then it just needs some work on the A/C, radio, and a few small things that don't really affect driving fun.

Don't feel any guilt at all. I've cannibalized 3 New Yorkers, 2 almost as good shape as dodgecharger-fan's over the years for their 440s and 727s and assorted bits. I wasn't prepared to be a custodian for something I only wanted some parts from. They were the cheapest price I could find a 440 for at the time. One of the nicer New Yorkers I drove 10 miles to a ship at Sydney N.S and we used the ship's torches and cranes to pull it apart. A log carrier picked it up the next morning finishing the butchering we had done to it. The owner had bought a Buick and his wife didn't want 2 cars in the driveway. He told me he had it advertised for $600 for months and no one called for it. $150 and it was mine. This was in 1996.

At least they only pull the motors and the rest of the car is still salvageable. What I can't stand is the "DUBS" or "DONKS" or any of the other retardmobiles. Good thing they rarely use Mopars for those things though, mostly chevy's caddy's and ghettoldsmobiles.

It finally made sense when you used the two together like that Sublime69.  I had always wondered why those things with the 25 inch rims were called that but weren't there a couple of wrestling clowns in the WWF some years back called Dub and Donk?

Old Moparz

I'd pull the drive train without a second thought if the car was a tired & worn out boat. If it was in great shape, I'd look for a different donor car, but would still consider it if it was cost effective. I actually still keep my eyes open for a local one for just a few hundred, but that's pretty rare these days. The 440 & 727 I saved came out of a $250 1973 four door, New Yorker I drove daily for a while. Awesome car with just 72,000 miles, but it needed some body work when I got it. Besides, the frame got bent when I hit a curb avoiding some a-hole that couldn't drive in the snow.  ::)

There's lots of great stuff to be had from the old land yachts. The 73 New Yawker that gave it's engine also donated an electric trunk release, power window motors, power lock solenoids (I'd take another pair of those), brake hardware, Tilt-A-Scope and more insignificant goodies to my 69 than I can possibly list here. The car was rotten beyond any hope of salvation, but most of it's accessories were in beautiful, functional condition. Be sure to check the rear ends for Sure-Grips, not to mention the very desireable Imperial rear disc brakes :drool5:(72-74?) before scrapping the bodies. That much having been said, if any of your new parts piles have passenger side remote mirrors, remove them and send them to me. I am seeking the loooooong cable assemblies and the "through the A-pillar" grommets found on them.
