I have a 1.6 rocker ratio so my lift will be a bit more. I wiped a cam lobe last night, its always something  :rotz: , but i considered getting this cam just wanted to know your thoughts.

Current build.
Stealth heads
440- bored 60 over
crane gold roller rockers 1.6 ratio
tm-7 intake
1 3/4 supercomp headers
full 3inch mandrel bent x-pipe the whole way back
tci 3000-3500 stall
4.10 gears.

cam with a wiped lobe is a comp 292 dur .501 lift 244@.050
750 mighty demon carb
roughly 10.5 compression

id look at the comp xe282s cam for your engine.

I just was in formed about EDM lifters.  Has anyone used any of these? are they any good.  I am planning on buying a set for this cam if its honestly what they seem to be.

:iagree: That's the cam in Vegas Mike's 440 and it runs very strong. He also has the crane gold 1.6 rockers.

The EDM lifters are well worth it !  :2thumbs:

I checked that xe282 out on comps web site i am tring in a way to keep the lift down a bit becuase i am running those speedpro domed pistons. I noticed the xe282 has .540 lift on the exhaust side and with the 1.6 rocker it should be about .570 lift. my block is zero decked and im not quite sure how much room i honestly have. if i went with the mag 294 it has a lift of .525 and with the 1.6 rocker it should come out to .555... Il find out what i do have for piston to valve clearance this week.

Oh and i falsely diagnosed my problem. I tore off the valley pan to look at why my one rocker wasn't working ( which made me think i had a wiped lobe)  and I found that its not a cam lobe its a failed piston in the one lifter, it wont pump up. But that was the second set of new lifters on that cam so i was too scared to try another new set on that cam so i decided to look for a new cam.

How much P/V clearance do you have to work with ? Another option would be the Comp magnum 282 solid lifter profile which has approx .500 valve lift with the 1.5 rocker ratio and we know it will fit because your current hydraulic cam has the same specs.

valve lift isnt what causes piston to valve clearance issues, duration does.  when the valve is wide open the piston is way down in the hole.

Agreed....but the XS282S has the same duration as his current hyd flat tappet stick with more lift. Without knowing the actual (measured) PV clearance it's safer to use something that we know will work. It's quite possible that the XS282S will clear with adequate PV room but i would want to measure to be sure.  :Twocents:

Fwiw, the domes on those 2295's are designed for a stock head casting with 2.08/1.74 valves. I knoww on the Eddy heads that the valve location and relief don't line up perfectly so perhaps it is the same deal with the Stealth castings ?  :scratchchin:

ron, i had no doubt you knew, but i just wanted to make sure that anyone else that might read this was clear that its not about lift.

:scratchchin: :scratchchin:  some very good points here.  What stall speed does that 282XE cam require?  I have a 3000-3500 stall in the car right now. Just trying to hit all the spots.

i have 4.10 gears and a 3800 ish converter  its a "medium" 10 inch tubo action.  i use the xe282s cam with 452 inches

Here is Vegas Mike's build with the XS282S in a very similar build to yours. The dyno sheets are posted so you can see what the power curve looks like.  :yesnod:

Personally, i would want a 3500 stall with that cam.  :Twocents:

Hey i found his build i searched for it, yea that 282 cam did make a huge power diff from the old mp590. That 282 cam sounds pretty impressive i  just may have to purchase that one. Considering how close of a build his is to mine that cam sounds just about perfect.

Vegas, by anychance do you have a video or sound clip of your car running ?

I'll talk to Mike later and see if he has some video but, I don't think he does.   I can tell you that it sounds reallllllly sweet.   :2thumbs:

sweet i think im gonna shoot for that cam,  The cam that i mentioned is it a bad choice ? im just wondering as to what its down fall might be, compared to the 282xe.
