I can't seem to find any technical information for this b@st@rd truck on the net.  I'm trying to locate the firing order and the correct timing-setting procedure for a 1992 Ford F150 with an inline 6.

Any help is appreciated gang.

Randy

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Once you get the firing order right, What are you going to do about that nasty sounding main bearing rattle when you first fire it up in the morning ?

find the timing marks off the crank balancer and the pointer off the timing cover, hook up your timing light and take a look, adjust the distributor accordingly. Not really much to setting timing, just find the numbers. after you have heard a bunch of them run you just get a tendency to set them by ear. at least i do.

I've timed many vehicles with timing lights and by ear, the problem I'm having is that I can't find timing marks with the light and when I set it by ear and get a smooth idle it spark knocks like crazy on the gas.  I've had vehicles before that were goofy and had to be timed off of the number 3 cylinder and I'm wondering if this is the same way, although that doesn't really make a difference right now because I've put the light on each of the plug wires and I have yet to find the timing marks on the crank.  If nothing else I guess ill have to renew my account on the tech website so I have access to the factory information.  I just hate paying 20 bucks for a one time use, and for something that should be so simple.

Does it have a computer? if so you have to disconnect the computer to set base timing. I think on Ford's it called the PIP connector, it been a long time since i worked on a Ford.
