autometer water temp gauge

i bought a sport comp electric water temp gauge from auto meter and it is reading way off so i am guessing i installed it wrong. can somebody please inform me as to how it is suppose to be wired in.  also i am using the stock water temp sensor, is that what i should be using?

IIRC you need to run the sensor supplied with the gauge....heres how I did mine.  I run both an electric aftermarket gauge as well as the factory gauge..

Aftermarket is on the top (where there is usually a plug in the w/p housing...painted it it camouflage it a bit ) and stock one is in the stock location (facing out below it)

Obviously for a BB application
