You know, I was thinking the same thing yesterday when I was there, but didn't say it. There are villages missing their idiots this weekend....lol

Great weather for a change. Parts were mostly rusty junk and I thought blankets and sunglasses were for state fairs. There was a Q5 69 Charger so i got to see what mine would look like, I hope. Not going next year. The RR shell made from replacement panels was cool. Didnt stop at mopar action tent as I was all out of taco bell gas.

The weather couldn't have been any better overall, even with the light sprinkle of rain saturday morning. It did get as bit warm today though.Sales was down bigtime though, the economy is still digging at some I guess.

I did make a nice purchase though.

I was able to find the vinyl top trim I have searched everywhere for. It was on the last row, one of the last dealers there, but he had exactly what I have been needing.
Well worth the trip just for those four pieces.

For the most part,  my weekend sucked.   Basically saw nothing of the show until the Sunday leftovers...    Most notably the Supercharger, the Pinks all out winner white 68 from WV,  and the black C500 that was in the dealer display at Carlisle.

PA dodger (Dan) stopped by the tent Friday.    Spike and Troy stopped by for a chat on Sunday.

Drove ME editor Geoff Skunkard around on golf cart and chatted about my friend Al and Val's 68 GTX ragtop.

My hearing is shot even worse from being so close to the stupid racetrack.   I tried earplugs but then it was hard communicating with customers.

I probably won't do this deal again on these same terms.

I feel I should explain my comment. As I approach 50 years of age my tolerance for the asinine becomes literally zero. Case in point. I use to sit for 3 nights in a row on Brice Road and enjoy the Cruise and the occasional burnout. I gave that up 2 years ago because of what it had become which is auditions for not only Maury Povich but for Jerry Springer as well. I changed my Hotel location and where I watch the cruise based on positive word of mouth but damn if those auditions didn't move right along with me. I was surrounded by "Village Idiots" (Thank you Mr. Howell) and their offspring and subjected to the littlin's constant barrage of "BURNOUT, BURNOUT, BURNOUT!! at the top of their little lungs directly into my seated height ear. After about an hour of this they were given cardboard signs (inside out beer cases) on which their sperm and egg donating parents(?) scribbled "show us your boobs". Their incessant chant switched to that phrase for over and hour all the while being prodded by their slack jawed, mouth breathing friends and siblings to run up to any female of any age if either in a cruising car or just walking by and shove the sign in their face and demand they expose themselves. Gladly none did but doing so they were immediately ridiculed.

Then there was the incident where these same little FU#K*RS (for lack of a better term) were standing on the shoulder of the road about 1 foot away from cars passing by and fishtailing from doing a burnout that the cops stopped to ask that everyone stay off the the shoulder for safety sake and here again come these hillbillies with about as much common sense as they have a decent dental plan to surround and berate the police who promptly arrested a couple of them for open containers. (There is a God)

I could ramble on more about what I witnessed this past weekend but I think you get my drift. I have been attending the Nationals for nearly 20 years but I am seriously rethinking that. Some of you should know by now I don't care too much for Mob mentality.  :D

:iagree:  Ya know Gator, I have had friends that have gone to MoparNats and said basically the same.  I will say, I have never been.  I have been to Carlisle and Moparfest for many years however and recklessness is not tolerated at either.  Don't get me wrong, I am all for having a good time but everyones definition of that is somewhat different.
There is a place for that behavior.  Enough said.
We have the Syracuse Nationals here each year and while it is not nearly that crazy, it tends to get a bit uncontrolled so to speak.  It's a shame that a few could ruin it for the many.

:iagree: :iagree: :iagree:

One of the big reasons I have not gone to the Nationals since '06...

There is a high probability that I will never go again.

I will NEVER take a car there that I care about.

I don't even like leaving my Dodge Ram in the hotel parking lot.

I've seen beer cans sitting on the hoods of nice cars in the hotel parking lot.

I've seen inbreds throwing Frisbees between the cars in the hotel parking lot.

More inbreds playing baseball in the empty lot next to the hotel parking lot full of

nice, restored cars...

Obese middle-aged women drunk line dancing between my new truck and a nice car

parked next to me.

-No Music-

One of them had a HUGE key ring in her fat little hand, swinging it wildly around in

circles, spilling beer everywhere, repeatedly stumbling her fat, disgusting body up

against my paintjob...

I had to put a stop to that one...

Yes, I was told that I was the asshole.

So be it.

I'm an asshole.

What a news flash...

I have never been to the Nats, but after reading what you typed, I know it's not a place I should bring a car to unless I get some experience of the place. It amazes me that year after year complaints about the place have no effect on the show. I think there's at least 20 threads (not posts) on Moparts complaining about how bad the show is.

It still draws a huge crowd, but people bitched about Brice and now they bitch about Heath. It seems people won't be satisfied until they are in Happytown where burnouts are supported by the local PD, and spending a weekend in someone elses town means you have all access to be a fool.

Like I said, I have never been, so I am nobody to judge. I have also never been to CC or MoparFest, but I would go just for the simple fact that I don't hear 90% bad and 10% good. Those events are the opposite.

Aero426

For the most part, I don't give a crap about Brice, Heath, the cruising, burnouts, all that.    I go to the nats to see cars, buy parts or sell parts and see old friends.   I choose a hotel out of the way that allows me to get in and out with a minimum of hassle.   At the end of the day I am beat and the last thing I want to do is stay out late.    I've had a good time watching the mayhem in the past, but for the most part, it's overrated.

If you ignore what does or does not happen outside the show,  the common complaints about the nats are golf carts and a "just OK" venue of National Trail.   Yeah it could be better but the cars and people still show up.  Until that does not happen there isn't much of a reason to change anything.    I don't see a reason to not bring a car to the show.   There is still a lot to see and do.

Ghoste

That is about exactly my feelings can be summed up as well.  I don't bring a rare nice car, I bring a driver and I avoid Brice.  I did visit Heath this year but didn't stay long as I figured I would see enough traffic jams on I75 when I went home.
After going for 29 years I have at least one more in me.  :icon_smile_big:

y3chargerrt

I have always wanted to go one time but I think I'll stick to Carlisle.
