Just got back from vacation and went to start my 74 with stock 318 and she will not start. The starter cranks but the motor will not turn over. I put the charger on the charger and will try and start it tomorrow.(maybe a weak battery) If that does not work, where should i go from there? It started and ran fine 8 days before.

Tried starting it this morning, no go. I have no spark at the plugs. What next?

Battery! Is it cranking over yet? Make sure battery is good first, your first post sounded like starter would not engage, you won't see spark if motor isn't turning over!  :slap:

I believe the starter is engaging the motor. The fan spins when trying to start. How do I check for spark at the coil and distributor? The battery is only less than a year old.

Best way is to just stick a screwdiver in a sparkplug end of one of the wires and hold it real close to a grounded metal part. Have someone crank it over and look for spark.

Do you mean the cable off of the dist. from the coil?
