:2thumbs: Any idea yet what caused the problems?

The doctors think it happened because he refused to keep checking his blood sugar as he thought his type 2 diabetes was under control, and because he has very high colesterol. His blood pressure too, was 220 over 195 (or close). All those things together they believe is what caused it.

UPDATE 7/14/09

As of today, he is already doing much better then yesterday. They removed my dad from a lot of the life support stuff except for the air tube and other moniters. His body temp is back up to normal, they also are getting more signs of movement from him. He is starting to move more, but still cant open his eyes. Tomarrow, they are going to go inside of his heart with a cam, to see if they can find any damage. If they do find any, they will try to fix it.

Keeping you and your family in our prayers. My mom went through the same thing. After a quintuple bypass, stroked. Came out of that and kept having strokes and passing out leading to a coma. Same thing diabetic and sugar went haywire. She came here to live with us...one day giving me flack said that if I didn't like how opinionated she was now it was my fault since she came here, to our home to die. (I made her healthy). I was floored but I like that strong lady and that's not how she was; far from it. She is now on extended vacation up north and having a great time! Glad to hear your dad is on the same path. God bless you and your family.

Thanks everyone! Deeply appreciated.

UPDATE 7/16/09

The results of the search for damage inside my dads heart came back as NONE! So, right now we just have to wait and see how he heals. Their hoping soon he can be transfered back to the local hospital in the town where my mom is soon, so she can see him more.

UPDATE 7/17/09

They gave my dad another Cat Scan this morning, and other then the damage to his brain from the initial strokes, there is no additional brain damage. Again, they said we have to wait and see what if any of his motor skills will be lost or not.

Thanks guys.

Well, last weekend, my dad was removed from life support and started breathing on his own, although, it was weak. Today, they moved him from the hospital, to a nursing home west of Milwaukee, where they can deal with people in coma and semi-coma like my dad. And, that is where we are at right now. He still can hear and make some movements as asked, but can not open his eyes yet.

My mom is doing good. She is frustrated though, because the closest they can find a place to my mom, is about a hour away, and she can't just go and see him when ever she wants. My uncle and a family friend want to redo the back doors of their house and the walk way, so it is easier for her to get out, and she isn't a prisoner in her own home, and get to the car if she needs to. But they are trying to find volunteers to help so they can keep the cost down. So, we'll see how that turns out. As far as her surgery she needs, I haven't heard when she plans to have that done.

All positive news and hope you get the help you need to get the job done.
We're still with you brother.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Praying still for all of you. People will come through on that remodel...wish I was closer.
