got my pipes installed today, i chose to go with the summit 68-74 b-body kit. it was on sale for $224 through summit. i must say i am very pleased with the quality of the kit. this is the 3 inch kit, complete with all clamps, nuts, bolts and even new hangers for use in the stock locations. collectors and gaskets are also included.  the only drawback is the kit is designed for use with hooker super comp headers and the small summit brand mufflers.  that said it only took 3 hours start to finish including removal of the old exhaust.  the passenger side was cake, only had to trim about 6 inches off the intermediate pipe to allow for the much larger flowmaster muffler.  the drivers side took a little more time but not much, the header tube did not line up at all with the pipe. but all i did was cut 6 inches of pipe out of the 45 degree bend that would go through the crossmember hump and weld it back together and it fit perfectly. the last picture you can see where i cut and welded the pipe, that was the only modification made to the kit.

i chose the flowmaster 50 series suv mufflers- not to be confused with the 50 series or 50 series delta flow mufflers.  my goal was to run the old school 30 series but they are discontinued as of about 7 or 8 years ago. after an hour and a half conversation with gary at flowmaster he felt that the 50 series suv would give me what i was looking for. it is the same dimensions as the old 30 series and has the same chamber design inside. the only difference is an additional "H" chamber at the outlet to reduce interior resonance. this muffler is huge compared to most performance mufflers on the market. the big case allows for low noise but hi flow. part number is 53056 and dimensions are- 5 inches thick, 10 inches wide, 17 inches long and total length with inlet/outlet is 23 inches.  the results are exactly what i was looking for. tone at idle is fairly quiet, cruising is nice, no drone- just loud enough to know i am on the road. but when you stand on the throttle it comes alive, loud and boisterous. the tone is unique as well, not the traditional flowmaster sound like you associate the 40 series with. performance as far as seat of the pants and a crude marked 1/4 mile are good, no drop in power. the car feels great and sound good to me!. if we ever lose the rain i will make it to the track for some testing.

You held the camera pretty good, lol...I have gotten decent at it, but still have the bump from the road now and then...I can never "get on it" because I can't go straight with the camera in one hand, lol...I can only imagine how it would be having to worry about shifting too.

lol, thanks, you can see that the car tended to "wander" alot. there was some steering done with elbows, thighs, and knees during the filming of that video.
