As long as one of the flying monkeys coming out of my butt has a bag of cash with that much in it then it certainly is.

Its worth that if someone is willing to pay that much for it . :Twocents: A 4 speed similar car is much rarer and in lesser numbers. This detail shouldnt shoot its vaule sky high .But it was a Hemi Daytona with a known TV appearance. I did the ground work research on it to establish that fact and its TV appearance is mentioned in the ad description.Formerly seen on a 1972 Adam 12 series.

Even cooler, this is one of the only Daytonas to have appeared on the screen! That's right, if you watched the television show Adam-12 in 1972, you may have seen our Daytona! The episode, titled "Who Won," focused on street racers cleaning up their act and getting on the track for their racing fix. Seeing as this Daytona was a well known terror around Los Angeles and Irwindale Dragstrip (and one that couldn't be missed from space) it was a natural fit! Here's a link to the episode: http://www.hulu.com/watch/46171/adam-12-who-won#x-0,vepisode,1. The Daytona appears at the 10:35 in. It's cool to see any old car in a show, but it's amazing to watch an episode with the same car now sitting in our showroom in fully restored glory! We're not sure where Ed Ryan is now, but Ed, if you are out there, and you read this, give us a call. We'd like to fly you out here on our dime for some pictures with your old Daytona. In your honor, everyone at Best of Show will dress up in full 1970's garb and blast some Zeppelin on our 8 track players!

Hey!  They finally put the Charger scripts on the C pillars!

Doug - what is the license plate on the blue SuperBird next to this car in the old pic?  Any chance it is a blue California plate "827 BUP"?

Sorry, I'm going to take the defiant stance on that and say no it isn't, it just means that somebody has so much money that actual value is meaningless to them so they pay it without question, research, or care.
I know that's only my opinion and it likely falls outside the norm but I'm still entitled to it.  If it helps I freely admit my jealousy at not being a guy who has so much money that a million dollars of it has no real meaning to me because I might even buy the car if I was.

Troy

It's been discussed in the past. The owner knows it won't sell at that price but (supposedly) would take a reasonable offer. If someone pays the asking price they aren't real bright.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Knowing that the orange Hemi daytona left hands in PA from a owner I met. Who had totally auto do the car.For lets say I recall it sold for $300.000.Then it lands in Ohio .What possibly more could have it needed to be done to push it up to $800.000.Same situation with Ed old Q5 daytona beautifully restored sold at $100.000 I think then it lands at California Mopar at $375.000 or so.Not only are the prices up from the time we seen and know when these cars got sold. But Im sure they didnt have to totally extensively restore these cars from the ground up again either  :Twocents:

I have to agree 100% on this. There is no way that an old car (or anything, actually) that was worth only a small fraction when new, should be worth a rediculous amount of money today. A $5000 car being worth more than a handful of homes combined in one neighborhood, brings up ethics that I don't think would be a good discussion for the forum.

Gorgeous car.. But for that sort of dough, you'd think the little things would be taken care. Of course, I'm only going by the pictures.

- the truck striker needs to be painted, (by-product of Creative's fast "turnaround and their lack of attention to detail. Tech repainted modified hood with striker on)
- there's no scissor jack or mounting stud through the trunk mat
- taillamp protection cover inside the trunk missing
- '70 Charger hood
- wrong hood latch (IIRC)
- hood lanyards attached in improper position
- valance to k-member seal missing

Some of these things are hard to change, i.e, the hood (yeah, go find an original Daytona hood) - But, with some body work magic, it could be duplicated I'm sure.

I don't want to be on a negative tone, I want to be totally positive. But, for nearly 1 million bucks, it should have as many of the "little" things done.

And LOOK !!!!! It's trunk light switch mounting tab isn't being used !!!!  Wonder if that's mine.   :icon_smile_big:  Naaaaaaaaaaa. I think mine was shipped before this one...

Looks great Doug....

Please, if I'm in error, someone point it out... I'm still a' learnin'.........

Curious what did the green 4 speed IRS daytona bring after all

http://www.treas.gov/auctions/irs/tuok_auto_3659.htm

The site says "UPDATE - Sale adjourned due to court order - pls contact PALS Robert Brown regarding any bids that have been submitted."

pettybird

we have bank financing to cover the costs of our rather large inventory super sizing.  as such, every car needs to have "a" price, regardless of how off-the-wall it is.

other "not for sale except to idiots" prices:

the white '67 GTX I put together $209,900
Project Six Pack (just restored to 1974-75 trim) $299,900
A12 #1 $199,900

the owner paid $425k for the Daytona by hitting the BIN on eBay.  he likes having the car around and it even has its own corner of the shop with a massive banner over it.

this is an oft discussed car--even when it was at the far more reasonable price of only $599,900

Roger Gibson restored Auto Hemi Daytona - All original and NOS resto - under 500k....That's the one I want and tried a few times to make a deal on.

The Otis Chandler 4-speed sold for very near 800k.
