  Well, i'm just finding this thread but i recognised it straight away.. Is THAT?! IS THAT!! why it is... AMT made a model kit of that one among a series in the early '60s, very cool, very... what's the drivetrain?..

Slant six with Hyper-pak.  That was the reason for the offset bubble in the hood.   The common accepted cid was the smaller six and that was what it was originally equipped with.  Virgil was disappointed with the performance of the original engine and so he had the larger 225 installed.  Everyone believes the car is supposed to have the 170 but there is proof existing for the swap to the larger engine.

Yes, it's also the same one that my buddy took a piece of the old rocker panel off of and mounted to a plaque for me for my birthday.  A piece of the origianl XNR now hangs on the wall in my garage although no one will ever know or believe it.
