Run 3 miles at 0430
Iron all clothes for the week
Finish mowing my swamp(used to be a lawn but all this rain has really drenched the place and I live on the top of a hill)Mowed til about 2115 tonight, saw lightning and put it away.

Head to the shop and spray out a couple panels to send to Ace(tylercharger69).

If I take the Charger, I'll try to figure out my flamethrowing project on the charger some more.  http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,58705.0.html

Change the oil in my Challenger for hell ride 09 next week(leave 0200 or so friday morning, 10+ down to Centreville, Va to see my parents, whom I haven't seen in years, spend the night there, up at the crack of dawn saturday to blast to Carlisle to meet some of ya'll nice people, stay there for a couple hours and drive right back to maine by early sunday morning.  Now that's how I take vacation)

Finish making Tamales(2.5 day process)
Pork is cooked, chicken will cook through the night, the make the Masa tomorrow and add the spices to the meat mix and start steaming those by Sunday at some point.

Maybe start another tattoo.  Was going to do that tonight but time just goes too fast.  Not enough hours in the day. ;D

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Plans? My plans changed.   :smilielol:

I need a roof, so I got a bunch of estimates that are twice as much as I expected, & decided that I am doing it myself. So in order to do the roof, I wanted to get rid of a sag in it that may have contributed to the roof failing. The original owner of the house hired someone to build it who claimed to be a builder. I think it was just some guy who owned a hammer, & had some drunk, crackheaded friends. They screwed up so many things that I've fixed over the last 20 years since I've been here.

In order to do the roof, I'm installing a beam to prevent the 20' long, 2x8 (inadequate) rafters from sagging.

In order to install the beam, I opened the wall to make sure I had a place to anchor it.

In order to anchor the beam, I have to repair the water damage in the wall.

In order to repair the wall, I have to remove the siding & the installed-wrong-windows that caused the leak.

In order to remove the siding & the rotted OSB sheathing, I have to remove the deck.

At least the deck is fine, but that's only because I replaced it 18 years ago myself, when the guy that owned a hammer & knew drunk crackheads screwed the original deck up a long time ago.

I made a long trip back home with my wife and kids.
We got to see Mom, Grampa, relatives, etc.

They had the 4th stuff a week early there.
We went to a nearby small town (Readsboro, VT) where they had a little fair.
We missed the parade in the morning and fireworks that night.  (plus the actual 4th was going to be the next weekend where we live)

I am struck at how similar everything is to when I was a kid.
Newer vets from a war that is going on and on,
older vets from previous,
crazy, current gas/oil prices, etc.
muscle cars fading away due to big brother,
A brand new president that is very different,
etc.
2009 seems a lot like 1977 if you ask me.
Or, maybe it would be more accurate to say,
there was a period when I was a kid, basically 4 to 10 years old,
that has the same "feel" as 2004 to 2010.

Only instead of being a kid in the parent's muscle cars and seeing the VFW guys-
I am a parent with muscle cars driving around the kids and could be in the VFW.

I remember going there as a little kid, in the Daytona!
And even is a world full of bad ass muscle cars left and right, the Daytona stood out and got lots of attention.

It used to be a bigger thing everyone from all around went to.  It was very small.  they stopped doing it for ages and are trying to get back to it.
Up where I am from, many of the small towns of the past are even smaller now it seems like.
I guess so many move away when they grow up, older people move because of the winters, more people work farther away, etc.

We were back home for the real 4th and went to a parade, had a cook out, went to a little local celebration at the park, and did some fireworks.
