Antenna difference AM vs. AM/FM

 Hey guys,looking to see in anyone could shed some light on this subject.I knew when I bought this car that it had an aftermarket antenna on it(might even be a phord),did'nt think anything of it,figured they had replaced the factory one,who knows why but they did.After looking up inside the fender I noticed that it is only a 1/2" or so hole that it goes thru,not to mention drilled in toward the back side of the original undrilled hole in the outer sheetmeatl(fender).Unlike the factory hole that is about an inch or so w/the little notch toward the front of the car to lock the bezel into place,it was NOT cut out from the factory,and with no debating this is definitely the orig fender to the car,raises the ?,why would my car have right on the fender tag AM/FM,but there was no antenna provision until someone drilled it in??? Does the AM and AM/FM share the same antenna?? Because now I need to pick one up.
  When I look up under that area,you can see the reinforcment plate has the round hole w/notch,but it is not in the outer skin,going on insight,it does not appear to have been covered over,(welded plate,bondo ,etc)although I cannot be 100 % sure as the car has been repainted.And if it has,they did a hell of a job as it did'nt sink,move,nothing,and appears to be real straight and orig looking.Thanks

It is possible that the wrong fender was installed at the factory and the mistake was caught and rectified at the dealership prior to delivery to the original customer?

Forgot to mention this but Phils(RTSE)  car that I am working on also had a non factory antenna drilled in the wrong spot (alittle to far forward),and never had the correct hole and location punched out from the factory also! I had to weld a disc in there and make the correct hole with notches for the bezel base to lock into.His car though does not show any radio code at all on the fender tag,does this automatically mean it is a radio delete car??Most definitely both our cars have the orig front fenders,both which were never removed ,mine still is'nt!!!!!
