Ron i really like your avitar, can you post it full size and complete please...  :D

It sure sucks!!

I agree with most here. But at the same time i can understand if it is your daily driver.

With me, ill take my charger anywhere and put just about anything in it...mind you i have no headliner or carpet in the thing at the moment and the front seats have covers over them because there ripped to shreads (resto comming soon!!!)...regardless i still keep the car as clean as i can. When the car is complete i will still take it out to stores and enjoy it...but as usual i will park as far away from every other person or cart as i can and if i know im picking up something big i will just take  the pickup truck.

These cars are meant to be enjoyed. But with enjoyment comes your battle wounds. I say that they are responsible and need to pay, but you need to realize things like this happen and now you need to live with it. Maybe you will still take the charger to pick up things, but you know better then to let someone else put it in the car. Just like if you get a new paint job, you need to live with the fact that if you take the car out for daily rides you will eventually get a rock chip or scratch. There aint a damn thing you can do about it.

In my eyes every chip, scratch , or rip is worth it if you enjoy driving your car on a daily basis. If you worried about all these things you would be scared to take the thing out or trailer it everywhere...that just aint fun.

I understand why you are upset, but WHY would you subject your COLLECTOR CAR to even be potentially damaged in a situation like this?

This is an example of what is called "tuition".  You'll never do it again.    It doesn't matter whether it is a cruise night, or a trip to the store.   You are going to encounter people who don't understand your old car and that things are fragile.   Having a kid put a large bulky printer box in your old car is pretty much asking for a problem.

:iagree:

I'd have politely declined the help and done it myself...     but first I probably would have taken the jeep anyway.     I have nobody to impress at a Staples or whatever that I need to take the Charger to.   I neither expect nor trust most people to respect my car therefore I do not allow them to endanger it.

I did stop at Sam's club once to pick up some things for E-booger on the way to Bear Mt.  once.    I parked across 3 handicapped spots.

But hey... try your insurance.     I don't recommend it but a friend of mine "claimed" his old headerliner got purposely sliced (vandalized) at a car show.   The fact his elderly mother used a walker and had difficulty getting in and out had nothing to do with it  ::)
Then another time he claimed somebody keyed up his paint on the endura bumper so he  got the front end repainted... which looked nicer than the accumulated rock chips that were there before.

Who were you trying to impress by doing that?

Not you...   not anybody in fact.     I had to pick stuff up on my way to for E-booger's house.     I was taking reasonable precautions IMHO.   There's about 50 handicapped spots at any Sam's club store so in the 7 minutes it took me to get in and out I don't think I seriously inconveninced anyone.

When you finally get your car on the road let us know how it goes after you find the first chip or ding.  ::)

I think his point was why would you take up 3 handicapped spaces? 50 free or not that is pretty low. I get why you did it but you could have used 3 regular spaces. Sorry but it is a huge pet peeve of mine when I see people take up handicapped spaces.

Anyways....on the thread topic itself I'd have to agree with alot of the folks in questioning why you let some kid try to jamb a big box into a classic car....unfortunately I think you only have yourself to blame.

Ok, let me just explain since some of you are painting your own picture here. I was at the trunk putting things in and it wouldn't fit. He took it to the front and jammed it in. By the time I got there to see the damage... too late.

Ok, no more imaginative stories of what a dope I am. Once you cast the first stone a lot of rocks start flying in all directions.
So, that's the story from the guy himself. Now... go drive your cars this Holiday and make the choice to enjoy it or worry your head off about every little thing. Up to you.

Number one question.  Did you ask this kid if he realized what he did ?

hotrod98

Legendary has started making headliners that are more like the originals. Check to see if they have one for your model. You have to buy the sails seperately. With the 20% off they're about $100 plus the sails.
I just bought one for my 69 runner. Should be here in a couple of weeks. I'm getting tired of installing those cheap crappy headliners in customers cars that don't look right no matter how much time you put into installing them.

Yes, and his response... "Sorry, we're not insured for that." Later on the district manager did much the same amount of nothing.
And I've went to corporate with it now. Turns out, they were supposed to file a claim. It also came out that I was offered 100 bucks to "Quiet down the situation."
We'll see where it goes from here.

I think it was said about learning a lesson here.   :yesnod:    It seems to me that you are more upset about the fact that they are not taking responsibility for what they did.   Sorry this happened Ron.   :rotz:   I hope they take care of you.   :2thumbs:   They are liable and need to make good on this.   Good luck,  Chuck.............
