I need Slant Six Help

My dad and I recently purchased a 1978-1979 John Deere 830 Swather with a Chrysler Slant 6 in it. It needs a new timing chain installed. We were wondering if you kind folks here can give us an idea on where to start with for setting the timing back to specs. He cant recall on a slant 6 and I've never worked with one before. The timing chain and gasket kit will be here Friday so I would like to know ASAP since we need it for hay and the hay is ready. Thanks in advance.

we figured out what the problem was. It was the damned balast resistor. Thats anyways though.

ours has a cab and is a John Deere 830 with wooden reel, air cooled, Slant Six, even got carpet........... its in near mint shape.

Is there at least four inches of dust/hay on top of the engine? Farm engines don't run right unless there is.

nope............ the guy we bought it from took care of it.............. was inside until 4 years ago
