I guess I assumed that since we own Chargers we all have great taste in car design!   LOL!......Seen them both  in person, As much as I like the new Challenger it is kinda slab sided compared to the edgier Camaro. I think GM did everything right with the car, even the Transfomers version looked kiss-ass rolling up on screen, it was the only saving grace in a LONG movie for me! It's not gonna save GM on it's own but it's a big step in the right direction along with the new Caddy CTS-V. Different strokes I guess.
Very well said.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Ugly???? what are you smokin????    I think that Camaro is great looking, real aggressive & tough. Obviously it's no classic Charger but that car, for the price, the performance (even with the V6) and the looks you can't beat it, and I'm definitely no Chevy lover, until now. Just in case you need a refresher course in UGLY I've attached a pic to help you out.  ugly?..........

 I agree 100%. But of course, Im a chevy lover too.

Thats how I was when I saw them.   They look like new 2 door Caddys with a stripe and bright color.

I'm new to the old charger scene since I just recently bought one for my son. However, I was heavily into the 60s muscle car scene back in my highschool and college days. I had a 69 fastback mustang and friends had most of the other hotrods. Regarding the new "old school" designs, I think the mustang looks most like the originals. I was very disappointed in the HP department though. For today, putting 300hp V8 in their high end muscle car just seems weak. THe camaro with a V6 gets 300hp and can still give you high 20s gas mileage. Although the new camaro doesn't look like the old ones, I think it is the one i would pick between it and the mustang. As for the charger, I have rented them and all I can say is it sure didn't seem like a muscle car to me. I haven't tried a challenger yet but they do look pretty cool. Just seems they are priced crazy expensive compared to the camaros and mustangs.

It is time for me to get a new car and believe it or not, I am considering a V6 camaro. I am thinking 27mpg isn't bad at all for a 300HP V6 in a pretty sporty looking package. Now I just wonder when the V6 versions will start hitting the showroom floors in numbers. I am thinking a V6 camaro 2LT would be a fun 300HP drive that won't make me go broke if gas gets back up to $4/gallon.

The Mustang may be the only one of these retro-rides that is genuinely a performance car and not just a drag racer.  In that sense it is more true to the Mustang's roots.  Whereas the 2010 Camaro is a great car that should have been called a Chevelle.  The Challegers were always similar to what they are now, for good and bad.

The simple fact is the Camaro and Challenger have obesity problems.  I know the topic has been beaten to death but it's true.  You can band-aid an overweight car's handling/braking/launching problems with HUGE tire contact patches and swaybars the diameter of tree trunks, but the problem is still there.  As soon as you lose traction, all that mass is right there to drift the car into the next zip code before it slows down enough to regain traction again.  This is unforgiving and it's not what a "sports car" is supposed to be like.

The original 1960s american musclecars had this problem too, but it was so much less of an extent.  The modern versions' weight increases have taken the issue from an annoyance in the 1960s to much more of deal-breaker for a sports car buff now.

Im sorry but i think all they did was get the mustang closer looking to the 70's models that i cant stand. I think its a step backwards. I like the last body better.

I will give it props for having a solid rear axle and still kickin the camaro and challenger's ass in handling and skid pad.

TheGhost

I'd rather have an old Camaro Bumblebee than a new Camaro Bumblebee.

But, then, I'd rather have any Mopar, Pontiac, or Ford muscle/pony car over a Camaro, any day of the week.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

transformers have been around for 20 YEARS as toys and cartoons, they already have a huge following, they didn't show up 4-5 years ago like some of you seem to think, my eighteen year old still remembers playing with them, the recent movies are only extensions of his childhood.  i don't think it will have the following of the DOH but we haven't seen a weekly TV show out of it either.  now he still prefers older muscle cars for now but wait 5 years when he gets a better paying job/used camaro prices are alot lower and i wouldn't be surprised to see him get one, face it, its just like the old days, mopar is more expensive and fewer seen on the streets everyday so its only natural for people to migrate towards the mustang and camaro these days.  even back in 87 when muscle car prices were sky high i couldn't afford one so i got an 81 Z28 cause all mopar had was front wheel drive

5 and 10 years ago I was saying that Transformers would make an awesome movie with CGI effects so you could do it live action.  At the time my friends thought I was nuts.  They said it's just an old kids cartoon that nobody would be very into today.  It's safe to say I got the last laugh on that one.
