hello.i have a stock 318 charger with duals.trying to finnish it to take to carlisle and the nats.here's the problem.the car will start and idle smooth, drop it in gear and hold the brake on and start giving it gas the rpms drop till it stalls.or if you go to pull out from a dead stop as soon as you start giving it gas it will spit and stall unless you feather the gas pedal.other than that it runs good and smooth.put on new plugs, points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires, reman carb(this is the 2nd one,i thought the 1st one was bad but the 2nd one is doing the same thing),vacume hoses, sprayed around the manifold for a vacume leak with blaster but the rpms didn't change.also adjusted the carb with a vacume gauge.hope someone has some ideas.thanks, tom

Sounds like the accelerator pump in the carb, but you've already replaced that ?

Try adjusting the accelerator pump rod position in the arm for more "squirt" ?
Only wimps wear Bowties !

Sounds to me like a combination of timing and carb adjustment together.  However....I have seen some instances where the power brake booster leaked internally causing those results.  Is your vacuum gauge reading consistent or is the needle acting erratic?  If it is bone stock....you should read a solid 18 to 20 psi at the intake manifold directly.  (Meaning not off of the carburetor vacuum ports)

took vacume off of carb.borrowed a timing light, will check it tomorrow.someone said it might be the vacume advance.going to try another dist.also.never ran into a problem like this before.

Look down the carb bores, engine off . Open the throttle 1/2 way quickly and see if you have a strong accellerator pump discharge in both bores.

You can do this several times before the carb bowl starts to get low.  If it dribbles on either bore you have a accellerator pump problem or a low float setting.

When was the last time  it ran right?

Try choke cleaner for vacume leaks.

Plug every vacume port , any difference?

got the car 6 yrs ago.car came from oregon to pa.unloaded it from trailer and drove it 1 mi home. i would start it and let it run but never drove it while i was restoring it.after replacing most everything it idles and runs fine.its when you just start giving it gas is when it spits and stalls unless you feather the gas pedal.the 2nd carb is doing the same thing as the 1st so i'm kind of ruling the carb out. i have a tach on the coloum and when you start giving it gas the rpm will drop and stall?

swaped out the dist and problem went away.thanks to everyone for your ideas.tom
