you know the doctor they found to ride in the ambulance for Cannonball Run?  he might have been that sane.

he showed up at the hotel a couple of the nights, told us crackpot stories (and some good ones, like the 30gal fuel cell in the trunk and the parade flag holders) and then would "show off" to us other car owners.  he'd rev the crap out of his motor, slip the clutch, and kinda, sorta do burnouts without paying attention to which way the car was pointed.  I thought he was out of his mind when he nearly clipped 6 cars in the parking lot, but the crowning moment came when we were at the BBQ place with the drivers.  they all went outside to sign cars, and he wanted his signed, too.  he was holding the motor at like 6000RPM and slipping the clutch to pull the car up, and he was lurching it worse than a 15 year old who had never been behind the wheel before.  Bobby had just signed one car and was moving to another when our hero drove up onto the sidewalk (scaring the family walking on it) and came within a foot of hitting whoever was near.  you could hear a collective gasp when he finally hit the brakes.  if you could stop time, it would have been a 50/50 split whether people thought he was going to drive into the damn wall or not.

i'd love to have a couple of the "made in Level Cross" or old school PE stickers, though, and the car was a time capsule.  it just seemed like it was time to take away the keys.

I didnt want to mention how I felt about the guy a few years ago.....he seemed very "crazy" as everyone else stated.

But I will say that at the last show he was very sedate. maybe he is now medicated or he was medicated with incorrect meds prior. Either way he was a different man.
wingless now, but still around.
