If this is the incorrect spot to post this thread my apologies to the mods.

I was looking on Ebay and found a jack for sale but it does not have the flat plate on it like I would expect to see on a 687-70 jack. Were there more than one style available in those years? Is the plate available separately? Has anybody made one?

Here is a link to the Ebay add.

Doesn't look like mine and mine is supposed to be correct.  Anyone with a pic of the correct jack?

69 OUR/TEA

Sure, out of a 68 Charger, but NOT for a 68 Charger!!!! The Charger jacks have a flat plate attached to them, and has a solid mast. Here you go....

I think the one on the add is a Mopar jack but I am not sure which model. I have one like that at home and it is from one of my Mopars. I guess I will borrow one to use as a template and modify the one I have.

Thanks guys.

Boy, somebody did a lot of work restoring the wrong jack.

I found one in the trunk of my '70. I'm pretty sure its original to the car but I'll post some pictures for everyone to look at. I'll probably sell it and use the money on other parts I need worse.  :scratchchin:

The one in the ebay add takes a large hook that hangs on the point in the pix. They only have half of what some one needs in the pix. As for 68 69 jacks they usually run between 300 to 800 bucks on ebay..
Best of luck..

That's a 72 and later jack. You can tell by the lack of a hook. After 71 all of the bumpers were slotted for the jack to engage the bumper slot so it was less likely to slip.

They can be the tubular post as well (2 vendors) - most think the T-bar solid shaft is the only one but I have seen plenty of tubular post Charger jacks as well.

The ebay jack is for a later (late 71-up) with the slot in the bumper.

Here's another close-but-no-cigar "69-70" bumper jack -- Ebay item: 110386429820

I wouldn't sell it if I were you. You might make $300 now but you'll probably be paying $600 later. Right now it's money in the bank.

Not to be a dope, but what makes the Charger jacks so scarce?  I get that Chargers are rare in general but is it not the same jack from other B-bodies??

I gotta remember to tell my wife that if I croak like Billy Mays, she should sell the Charger piece-by-piece to ensure the kids can all go to college...

carolina charger

Here is a picture of it. I would like to confirm or deny that it is correct. I know I shouldn't sell it but theres still lots of other parts I need to purchase, and the funds from it sure would be handy.

The jack is, unfortunately, Charger-specific (at least for certain years including '69).  Other B-bodies used a more universal jack along with a specific hook which fit their particular bumper's profile.

Looks right to me...  Here's a shot of my Daytona's original jack (they're date coded too BTW):

If the up-down lever is down it covers up the numbers :brickwall:
I flipped the lever up and I see O F.

hemigeno

That date code represents June, 1970.  Very, very late in the 1970 model year, since they stopped making '70 models sometime during the second week of July.  FWIW, the May '69 jack of mine was installed in a June '69 built car.

I'm assuming here that the 1971 Chargers didn't use the same jack, but I could definitely be wrong about that.  Haven't checked the parts manual yet...

*Edit* Dug through the '70-71 manual and the '71 models don't use the same jack.  The date code isn't a super-critical item since yours is still a Charger jack, but it is there nonetheless.
