Wow. Rows, and rows of parts, wow. I hafta' wonder, How does a father/son team come to amass such a cache' of E body (only, for the most part) parts? I mean, why only E body? Why limit yourself? "Hello, I was wondering if you had an automatic center console for a 1970 Dodge Charger?" ...." Nope sorry, we got 15 center consoles for a 'Cuda though."  Kinda' odd.

Alrighty then....
This is really fucked up.
What is wrong with the Mopar collector car hobby? Guys like this!!
Is it wrong for them to amass parts? Survey says.....no. We all do it.
Is it wrong for them to part cars out.......no. Done my share too.
Is it wrong to have a business selling parts.....no, of course not.
Is it wrong to horde parts for years, never selling, always buying - to keep parts out of circulation....yes!!!!

I just read in MCG about a dude who lost a MILLION dollars worth of NOS parts in a housefire. Do I feel bad for the prick? HELL NO. What's he doing with BOXES of NOS rimblow steering wheels? Is he selling them? NO. Is he "investing"? NO. He's sick in the head. Just like this dude on Ebay.
For frig's sake guys...buy/sell...keep the parts out there.
Ya can't take it with you when you die.

Well, God knows there's nobody on this site who's obsessed...  :D

Magnumcharger

I guess you could say that.
After thinking about my above statements....

How many old junkyards have you been to, or old cars have you seen, rotting to pieces by just sitting.
I've seen thousands!! How many times have you heard: "I'm gonna fix that up .... someday"?  And yet the car continues to rot away.
And you know full well that that owner is never going to part with it, or do anything with it in their lifetime?
And the junkyard owners, hoarding cars and parts, until the trees grow around them. That's craziness!!

The BEST thing I've ever seen - is here on Dodgecharger.com!! "Pay it forward"!!!
That's the way it should be!!!! :yesnod:

And yes, I GIVE car parts away.
So what if I don't get rich.

I agree, I still wonder where people are finding NOS parts for a 68 charger?

I had some E-body parts which I kept in my parents house across the country. I sold them recently when I had to go out there since they were selling the house and I was forced to deal with getting rid of them. Lost my free storage  :icon_smile_wink:

On the downside to hoarding the parts for all these years. Once a part is re-popped, the price of the original takes a tumble. You still have die hard people who want their hemi car to have the original number matching parts and pay a small premium over re-pop prices, but not as much as before the part was reproduced. But, I wish I had more.

For example a set of 71 cuda fenders aren't worth as much today as they used to be!

I've ran into many awesome members here who have a shitload of parts. They don't advertise and they are very happy when they can help a fellow Mopar guy out.  I just met an awesome member who I purchased a door from and he had a ton of parts in his pole barn.  Over the years, he would buy Mopars and when it was time to junk the car, he would remove any "good" parts and then trash the car.  Most of the cars went to the junk yard in the late 70's and 80's.  I say, "thank goddness" he did this.

What I don't like are people like Mopar City (Larry) who have the parts and try and get a crap load of money for them.  I contacted Larry for some doors, and he said mint doors would be $550 a piece, and some that needed work $450 A PIECE.  This fellow Mopar member is asking "realistic" prices and is an awesome guy.  At the end of the day, this is all extra money for him anyways based on having these parts for 20 and more years.

I do not know the whole story on these parts and have heard no mention of it. Without knowing the reason why they have so many parts and what is going on it is IMO unreasonable to condemn the guy. There is a good chance many of these parts may have ended up in the crusher if he had not removed them. Maybe he had plans which due to health reasons has prompted the sale.

They probably got tired of lugging this stuff around to shows year after year & not selling much. Especially in this bad economy.  :Twocents: LEON.
