Now see, to my twisted way of thinking, instead of closing dealerships, what they should do is to crack down on this stuff.  Chrysler needs a little more control over their retail outlets and dealers should have to run their stores like any other franchised business.  Here is the price, here is the service, any dealer that doesn't meet the standard loses his franchise.  :shruggy:   I know, it's oversimplifying a bigger issue and it's not the American way, blah, blah, blahdee, blah.

Well said.

I've been asking this myself for a long time. All the dealerships are is middlemen anyway and they're helping to kill off the big 3. Around here, NONE of the big 3's dealerships want to deal with you unless it's last years model that's still sitting on the lot, or, one of the hundreds of copies of the same car thay have on the lot. The japanese dealers around here deal, haggle etc because they want to sell cars and understand that a good deal on a car means the person eventually will be back for service int he future where dealers make their money. So as much as it pains for me to say, I can see why people buy those cars.

They would rather sell one Challenger and make 5-7K instead of selling 10 Challengers and make 1-2K and boost Chryslers business in the process. Just more greedy mofo's. Oh well, I don't need the new Challenger anyway, I'll just keep on the look out for the Mopars I really like, 62-72 models.

That's pretty much the way Dave Smith does it but they do it without Chrysler telling them to. They don't negotiate because they don't have to. They offer the best price so people just sign the papers and drive off.

40K for 1500 Ram? What a ripoff. You can get barely used 3500 Laramie Cummins for 25000-30K around here

Where is that? And how much $ for an equivalent truck as the one I posted?
Here's a lot of truck for good price

So I drove by the local Dodge store on the way home, you know...the place with the "Demons"!! :D
Anyhoo, I talked to "my" salesman and the sales manager both. From what information they've been given, the Detonator yellow is in the immediate future, and that's a "for sure".
The Plum Crazy Purple isn't on the books, as of yet. However, they said that they're pretty certain that it'll be a midyear release, a sort of spring special.
Which would actually work out good for me too, as I wouldn't want to have one just languishing in the garage all winter.

Ah, who am I kidding? I want one now dammit!!

Oh yeah, and Hemi orange is gone from selection in 2010. Can I have a hallelujah?

yeah im looking for a new hemi orange r/t guess if they dont make next year ill have to consider a chevy camaro.

dodge really needs to fine tune that pricing on the challengers, at least give some type of incentive.

Magnumcharger

Incentive!! Har-har-hardy-har-har!
Not in your lifetime!!
For whatever reason, I've never seen so many dealerships NOT want to move product!
I asked all three local outlets about military incentives, or loyalty discounts, or even selling to match other (non-local) dealerships and all I get is one of these: :shruggy:

The dealers need to be axed for some of the crap they do. Really, all we need would be "outlet dealers" straight from the manufacturer's. Then you can buy a car at factory price. No BS, no haggling, just show up and that's the price. All the dealers do is play middlman. They recieve cars from the factory just to mark them up and sell them with no added benefit to the automakers. This should be part of Chrysler and GM's restructuring plans.  :Twocents:

I was reading the posts on the Cuda/Challenger site and I did not realize that 2010 is the 40th year for the challenger.

Hopefully Fiat will put out something cool or maybe even a T/A version.  :smilielol:

I am a big mopar fan and have been since I got a ride in my cousin's 1970 340 cuda back when I was 8 and had just watched the DOH.  So I have always had a soft spot for Mopar's.  That was until I went into a dealership.

I'm older now and was thinking it would be great to have an SRT 8 Charger or SRT Challenger but the gas and the insurance alone would be a bit over board.  So I was thinking what about a base model Charger or the base model Challenger.  I really like to the look of the Challenger sooooooo much better that the base Charger.  I walk into a dealership that had 2 of the V6 models(which was a feat in and of it self...I live in So Cal and this was the only dealer that had two) and looked them over and one of them was $23,000 which was in my price range with tax and all of the other little fee's.  I found a sales person i told him about the car that i was intrested and he agreed and did all of the things that a sales guys does to build you up so you think you have to have this car.  We went over to his desk and sat down to run the numbers.  I was ready to pay full sticker price for them.  The first thing out of his mouth after we sat down was " I just want you to know that the Challenger is a Hot car right now."  I thought to my self oh man here it comes.  Then he said " We have a mark up of $15,000 on the SRT a $10,000 and $6,500 on the SE."  I laughed out loud at that and he just looked at me and asked "How many Challengers have you seen on the road?"  That is when I said "Obviously not many because you really don't want to sell them with thouse kind of prices."  The Salesman then said that he would talk to his manager.  Then the Manager walked over and and asked me the same question.  "How many Challengers Have seen on the road"  So what I gathered is that some people actually believe this crap.  So I proceeded to rant to this guy and here is what I said.  There job as a dealership is to sell cars.  Not to jack the prices up to sell to the people that could afford the extra.  Just because the "Tickle Me Elmos" were a hot item during Christmas one year didn't mean that Walmart raised the prices or that Best Buy was selling the "Wii" for more just because they couldn't keep them in stock.  No, they had to sell it at the RETAIL price and if you really wanted one you stood in line and waited or you could buy one from some crazy guy on craigslist."  Then the manager asked me some more dumb question.  I got up and told him that he just lost a customer then walked out.  When I got in my car I looked back to see if he was following and I guess they didn't need the money because they are still on the lot 2 months later.

With things like that its no wonder so many dealers went away and since when is a V6 American sports car really a sports car.  I have seen a few used ones on craigslist going for about $15-18K so i will wait a year and see what will happen.  For now I will keep driving my Scion XB that gets 35mpg and save a bunch of money to spend on my 74 charger.
I Love Chargers Yes I Do....I love Charger How Bout You

bull

And everybody wonders why Chrysler can't sell cars.

I love that question, "How many Challengers do you see on the road?" What an idiot. If they sold them at about $1,000 over msrp they wouldn't be able to keep them in stock. Instead they've got a bunch of useless museum pieces.
