What's with the sudden vampire fad?

I just spotted a flyer that my 13 year old brought home from school with a list of books that the kids can order and it seems like there are a whack of vampire stories all of a sudden.  And how many series are there on tv about these clowns now?  Three? Four?  Two or twenty, I don't know.  It just seems that after a long spell of cool scary vampires now we have a whole bunch of these moody young vamps taking over.
More importantly, do you think they can kick any serious zombie ass?

I would say it is fueled by all the new vampire movies that are out.
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .

Two teenage daughters and a wife who seems to like that crap so yes, I know about the "New Moon" books and movies.
But do we really have a market for that many copcats?  And what about the zombies?

Underworld is a good vampire movie. Zombies in today's movies are not like the ones in the older movies.

Since zombies and vampires are both dead, would they have the slightest interest in each other?  I mean, you never see zombies attack other zombies.  Of course, they both need living humans to survive which puts them in competition for this dwindling resource.  So, what would happen if a zombie bit a vampire?  Is there any blood in a zombie for a vampire to drink? Enquiring minds want to know! :shruggy:

I remember Dark Shadows....Barnabus....but he was butt-fuggly! Imagine if they had Bobby Sherman playing the lead role? The Vampire craze might have taken off in 1969 instead of now!

ah, yes, Dark Shadows.  My little sister was a huge fan.  Barnabas wasn't hot, but Quentin was.  In the days before VCR's, I would hot wire off the speaker and record the show on cassette so she could listen to it later.
