Just about to begin my 727 to 833 swap in my 72 charger and trying to find the last bits and pieces, but had some questions. Are there bushings or insulators that go in the clutch linkage rod eyelets, if so where can I get them? Does any ony have a pic of the placement of the over center spring on the pedal and is it really necessary?  Lastly I know that the overdrive 833 came out in 75 but were all post-75 833's overdrive or not / is there a way to tell the difference by looking at it?

There are no bushings in the rod ends but there are plastic washers between the Z-bar and the
eyelets.

The OC spring isn't usually needed with a diaphram clutch, others need it to save your leg muscles.

All '75 and later were OD, easiest way to spot one is the 5 1/8" front bearing retainer, the non-OD are smaller.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks for the reply John, the reason I ask is the guy I got the trans from swears that it is a regular non-overdrive A833 but there is "6-23-76" in raised lettering on the side of trans case, I was wondering if this was a date code. I measured the bearing retainer and from what I can tell it is approx. 4.5-4.75 inches(Ihaven't taken bell housing off yet)  I marked the input and output shafts and then put into what I believe should be the correct position for third and fourth gears (on an od833)and in third I get equal movement of input and output shafts(1:1 ratio) in fourth gear with one revolution of the input shaft, the output shaft mark goes a little over 1 1/4 revolution. maybe Im just looking at something wrong, but seems like od833

If as you said, in one position the shafts turn 1 to 1 and in the other the output shaft turns more then the input then it is an OD box. The 1 to 1 would be 3rd gear, and as far as the retainer goes someone could have changed this around to fit their bellhousing, good luck.

Yeah... and if you really want an overdrive, then put it in a steel case if you're gonna put some power in front of it...

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...
