Best way to attach rubber protective side trim?

The black rubber protective side trim from front fenders of my Duster were missing when I bought the car. I have primered and painted the gold paint and it's now blue. I bought the trim from a friend who was parting out a '75 Dart Swinger. I took the old sticky glue "tape" off of them so there's now a smooth backing. Now my question is, how do I attach this stuff?

3m double sided molding tape.  You have a NAPA anywhere close to you.

also check that molding one more time and get a new blade and skin it again.  What about the car...any residue left from the old molding?  It must be removed.  You could use 3m gum and adhesive remover and some elbow grease unless you have access to an eraser(goes on the end of the drill and cleans old decals off)

Clean both surfaces extremely well, rubbing alcohol will work if you have that handy and it's cheap if you need to buy it. Clean it at least 3 times on each surface.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

It won't damage the spray paint I used on the body?

test the alcohol to see what it does to the paint. but it has to be clean.

Yep, I cleaned about 98% of the old stuff off the body. There is nothing adhesive wise left on the trim. Took all of it off.

outline where it needs to go with masking tape and clean it REALLY well. that is the key to it sticking good.
