Hi I'm looking for a set of block dowel pins for a 426 hemi. Does anyone know the dimensions of the dowel pins used for the cylinder head & timing cover and transmission? Does anyone know if small blocks use the same size as big blocks? I am thinking about buying a small block hardware kit because it is significantly cheaper and I don't need the freeze plugs.

No offence but if you are building an expensive engine like a Hemi, you gotta buy the right stuff.

I noticed I needed a crank key and plug as well so I bought the whole hardware kit. But it looks like a big block owner who just needs the dowel pins can potentially save $100 by buying the small block kit if they are the same size.

The transmission dowels in the block are the same for all engines, although they're referred to as 1/2" dowels the actual diameter is .496". I believe the head and front cover are also the same.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Shouldn't be any different than any big block. If you know anyone with a junk black, you could probably take a pair of vise-grips and twist them out... and they are OEM....
