Im usually pretty good on engines, but Im trying to change the starter on my 68 383 Charger and I was told the easiest way was to lift the engine since my header encases the starter and there is not enough room between the headers and the stearing box too pull it up and out. So I found the two mounts in each side of the engine, are there any other mounts Im Missing? I cant find another anywhere, on the trans or anywhere. I jack up on the engine and the whole car lifts. Your help is appreciated. Thanks!

theres 3 mounting locations as far as i know, drivers front, passenger front, and trans crossmember, if you're jacking the whole car up with the oil pan and you haven't taken the driveshaft loose and dropped the trans then the trans may be contacting the tunnel and lifting the body of the car....this is not good for your oil pan, your transmission, or the transmission tunnel.

See I was told by three MOPAR mechanics that all you needed to do was pull the motor mounts and the engine would come up bout an inch, which is what I need. Course I havent found the mount on the trans... its on the cross member? Plus I have at least an inch and a quarter between the trans and trans tunnel. So Im guessin the mount on the trans is hold me up... but Ill be damned if I can find it. You have anyplace I can reference? See a photo?

Or do you have an easier way to get these headers off, so I can get the starter out of its prison?! and change it out...

Where are you jacking on the engine? All you have to do if you only need an inch or 2 is the remove the long motor mount bolts that attach the mount to the K-frame. They usually have a 38 head marking. Make sure the fan doesn't bust through the the rad shroud (if you have a fan shroud undo the fasteners and let it hang loose. Keep an eyeball on linkages trans lines etc. Maybe your headers are crammed against something jamming the engine to the body or somewhere.
