What paint should I use- rad top & air cleaner

I want to repaint the air cleaner for my Duster. The old paint is chipping away. Also, I'd like to repaint the rad top. What paint should I use? I want it to last a while. Should I use a high heat paint? What shade would be correct looking?

I used the Eastwood radiator paint.  Supposedly it is thinner than traditional paint.

Original rads were a lot glossier than many "restored" ones I see. They are only about 12% flattened. What kind of air cleaner? Wrinkle finish?

If I remember right, the air cleaner housing was a semi flat black or satin black color.  Most people seem to use the Krylon 1613 satin black.

Okay thanks Brian! Quick question, will that work fine with fairly high heat surroundings?

could try a semi gloss engine paint.  I think there is an engine paint that is semi flat or satin black for Ford engines but I may be wrong.

the radiator would prob need high temp paint but I wouldn't think the breather does. We used regular krylon on my son's 72 charger but just recently so time will tell. Might not last as long as engine or other high temp paint but was cheap and easy so if we have to paint it again in a year or two would not be a big deal.


I know it isn't mopar blue but my son wanted to go with red and is his car!

I painted my rebuilt booster with semi-gloss engine paint.

Just normal primer or should I get like self-etching primer?

i'd assume you wouldn't use self etching cuz its not new metal....just an epoxy primer should work...

I almost always use primer...but to be honest, I dont think I used it on this.
