What is the differance between rear quarter panel skin, and the whole "factory" quarter panels besides having part of the roof attached?

Get the full quarters from AMD. I used to get the skins, but will never get them again.

As what was told to me- if your selling the car, the skins are fine.  Keeping it, go with the AMD.  Night and day difference in quality! Just went through putting some on!

The Charger I bought came with the rear quarter skins (left and right) and I was wondering if they would work, but when I put it up to the car, they seemed a little short up top (top not reaching the car like it should) Are all skins like that, or is it something a body guy should check out? :shruggy:

You almost answered your own question there.  The panel thickness is supposed to be thicker on the newer full sized quarters. Although, metalurgy plays a part in there too in that the thickness doesn't mean it's stronger.  Anyhoo, on the full drivers quarter you get the gas filler hole.  The regular and thinner skins only go a few inches beyond the top bodyline. The jam side of the skins are poorly formed also. They are too round and not a sharp enough 90 degrees into the jam.  The skins are inferior compared to the full quarters.  Hope this made sense.

So you guys think I should sell the quarter skins I have now, and get the full quarters from AMD?

If your keeping the car, I would strongly suggest it.

There were a set for sale at a recent show here in Minneapolis for $120 each.

Would they be a good trade for some front fenders? :shruggy:

I would think not.  I paid $700 for a pair of rust free used 69 fenders 4 years ago.  New fenders from AMD are $750 each.   :Twocents:

Yeah, The AMD quarters are much better than the skins.  If you're doing anything more than small/moderate patching, then I would just get the full quarter.

I believe there's a guy on Ebay selling them for $150 a piece.
