The item in the picture is the bushing and seal thats goes in the end of the tailshaft of an A-833 (I have the 23 spline if that makes any difference).  Anybody know what the current Mopar Part number is for this item?  Wouldn't this part be the same for a A-727?  My dealer can't look up anything below 1984.

I looked up the part numbers for the seal and bushing in the 1969 Mopar passengers car catalog for the A-833 4 speed and they list part # 2801724 for the bushing and 2400300 for the seal. I also looked up the bushing part # for a 727 in the same catalog and it lists the same part #. I could not confirm if the seal was the same # or not.

My dodge dealer parts manager told me the seal was the same for auto and manual trans for the tail shaft.

The bushing and seal are the same for a 727 or a large shaft 833 (also used on the C-6 Ford).
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I didn't know there was a large and, apparently, small shaft A-833.  Could someone elaborate.  The original picture I posted showed one Mopar box intimating that both the bushing and the seal came as a "kit" (the picture came off a site where someone was selling these items as one unit).  Do you actually have to purchase two separate part numbers?  Or is there really a kit?  And if there is a kit, does anyone know what the kit part number is.  Thanks.

There is no "kit" that I know of, just 2 separate parts. Some A-833 4 speeds have a 25 spline output shaft, like a 904 Auto, and of course use a different bushing and seal. These were usually behind a /6 and a few 273's or 318's. good luck.

Mine's leaking out the rear of my 727.... so......is this picture in the original post what I need, or is there some other tail shaft seal I need to purchase?  Still available from the dealer???

Thanks
Mike

The rear seal should be available in any parts store, they come with or without the dust boot shown in the OP. If the trans is '68 or later there is only one seal.
